I had a similar problem. Don't know your brand. Try this:
1. turn off power.
2. thoroughly clean/vaccum underneath and behind the fridge
3. start power and change all settings to zero until you stop hearing any humming sound.
4. activate settings and fridge and freezer will start. GL
The exact same thing happened to me. An LG service tech was sent to my home, only to tell me that he couldnt fix the problem.. a blown fuse. He said the entier fridge had to be replaced. You would think a blown fuse owuld be an easy fix, but evidentally not. LG did replace the appliance but after it was replaced they told me theyd only guarantee the new fridge for 90 days. After that, my extended service plan would come into effect. Good thing Id purchased that plan because my 90 days was up last month & now my ice maker has quit working. I will never buy another LG product!
Make sure the the evaporator fan is running and circulation is getting to the fridge side. Remove anything that could be blocking the vent that brings in the air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure that no frost is building up in the back of the freezer. If there is frost, then the timer can be going bad.
Check the compressor relay near the compressor on the back bottom of the fridge. Check voltage it should read about 115, up above that there is a computer sensor, check that also has a fuse on it. One of the two is bad, they are cheap part and you can find them on LG.com
You most likely have a thermistor that needs replacing. Can you tell me the the temp. in the fridge? Most LG fridges have a 1 year warranty with extended warranty on some parts. If you could provide the model #, I can look into it further for you.
If the fan inside the freezer is running and the compressor behind the fridge is running and is hot to touch, you have a gas problem or the compressor is inefficient. This can only be confirmed by connecting refrigeration gauges to the gas system and should only be performed by a fridge tech.
