It sounds to me like it would be cheaper to just replace the printer. if you don't hardly do any printing then a cheap wal-mart printer for around 30 dollars is what you need. if you printer all the time then you need a laser printer and they run between 200 to 600 dollars and can pick one up at Sams club or a office supply store like Office Max or Office Deport. You might also check Kmart. Most people don't realize that they sell printers too.
Your printer needs a service, in other words the waste ink sponges need to be cleaned and dried. They then need to be replaced and the printer reassembled. Then the Epson counter resetting software needs to be installed.
With this software the printer can be set to zero, it will work perfectly after this bit of attention.
It is a good printer, it's nothing that can't be repaired.
A computer technician will be more than happy to service your printer for you.
It will tell you to remove and reinstall the ink cassette. Try this and make sure you install correctly as per instructions on page 11 of the User Guide.
If this does not resolve the problem, do a complete power down of the printer. Turn off and unplug from the power supply. Lets rest fro a few minutes and then plug back in to the power supply and if necessary turn on power. This should allow your printer to reset and hopefully recognize that a new ink cassette has been installed.
Here are a few possibilities...
1. Try cleaning the contacts on the print head and where they make
contact inside the printer. (use cotton wool and Alchol) if that does not work...
2. Pull out power cable from printer wait 1 MINUTE then insert cable and
switch back on again. (some printers reset to factory settings)
3. Remove printer cable from computer... Uninstall Printer driver from
computer... Switch off both printer and computer. Wait 1 minute... Reconnect
cables and switch on printer and computer... Allow computer to find printer...
In regards to the error message with the printhead missing or come loose......I had that issue just shortly after I installed my printer. I was going crazy trying to fix it taking it out and reinstalling which was a pain, removing the cartridges and then the printhead to no avail. Finally I got smart and disconnected the power cord from the printer itself, not directly from the outlet. Once I did that and turned the printer back on the error was gone. It might have been a fluke, but it worked for me, so you might want to try it.
Hello, are you sure it installed correctly. It sounds like it definitely cannot communjcate with pc. First try making sure in the settings drop down menu of your printer window in pc, make sure work offline selection is not checked. This often disables printer printing from pc. Check all settings as well. If this does not help i suggest completely uninstalling it and reinstalling it as well. Also, check to see this printer has driver for your windows and pc specifics. Even brand new printers can need updated drivers as the time they are manufactured and the time they are sold, can be a big time gap and new windows service packs and OS can come into play and need new drivers.
