Turns out it was a corruption in the O/S! Sys restore did the trick. This was the last straw for me & Vista on my laptop, though - I've gone over to Ubuntu full time now, that works with all my toys!
Thanks for the reply - much appreciated.

My toshiba computer won't recognize my sandisk card. I have a sandisk transflash 512mb with an adapter. do i need to download somekind of software or something to get it to work.

Hi,
What I suspect here is that,
Provided the operating system that you are using is Up to Date (e.g WinXP SP2 to Win Vista),

the USB port that you are using might be a USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to power on your Storage drive.

In this case, there are two things you can do,

1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case you dont know which one it is).

2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in an external power first, before connecting it to the system.

If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,

then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy a USB 2.0 Expansion card.

and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck

When i plug in the jumpdrive on any computer it says USB device not recognized, please help

Well, it’s a super simple solution! No need to edit the registry, uninstall drivers, or anything of that sort.
Simply UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER FROM THE POWER SUPPLY
Yes that’s it! Note that this does not mean just turning off your computer because modern computers don’t really turn off when you press the power button as the motherboard still gets power.

First to explain, the motherboard is where all of hardware of the computer is connected to, including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs to be “rebooted” also because something can go wrong, i.e. all your USB ports suddenly stop working. The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices!
So first turn off your computer using Shut Down or pressing the power button and then UNPLUG it from the wall outlet. Let it sit for about a minute and then plug it back in.
Hope this helps someone fix that pesky “USB device not recognized” Windows error!

P.S. if it is a laptop, power up the laptop with just the batteries, not plugged in to fix this issue.

Give this a try and come back to tell us if it worked or not.

The player is drawing too much power from the USB port. You should try plugging it into another USB port, preferably one where there are no other devices drawing power.
