Then it suddenly returned into the menu and it changes my MOnitor display setting by itself and i cant control it. I dunno if its a virus but the moment i boot up, its display's setting is Contrast 100. HELP!!

Try disconnecting your network cable and adjust the settings again, if you cant, enter safe mode by pressing f8 in the startup and select safemode then adjust the contrast there.

Or is this in the CRT monitor? inside the monitor? there are no viruses ever made for monitors. So its most likely a hardware fault in the crt. Maybe its time to buy a new one. LCD preferably easyer on your eyes.

HOW TO SET BRIGHTNESS OF THE SCREEN?

Hi,

Dear User...

You can adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor to improve the readability of text and to make digital pictures appear more like they'll look when printed.

To improve the results when adjusting the brightness and contrast settings for your display, use Display Color Calibration. (Display Color Calibration helps you adjust these color settings and others.) For more information about calibrating your display color in Windows, see Calibrate your display.

The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor. Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

On-screen menu. You can change the brightness and contrast settings for some displays by using an on-screen menu, and then setting the brightness and contrast in the resulting menu. Many times, you can view the on-screen menu by pressing a button-possibly labeled Menu-on the front of the monitor.

Thanks....

Monitor problem

If you restart your computer and either go to the Bios setup menu (usually by pressing DEL or some other noted key, in the first few seconds of power up) does the same "contrast" menu still appear?

If so, then it must be your monitor (likely Monitor, not computer)
Your monitor is mad at you and it is displaying a Warning Message that is part of its OSD (On Screen Display). Some monitors are more sensitive then others so it takes very little to get this type of message. To get rid of it you will need to use the buttons on the monitor to get into the OSD menus. You need to look for something like "OSD Settings" or "Warning Message Settings" which may be found under "Setup Menu" or "Options Menu". This all depends on the make and model of the monitor as they are all slightly different.

Once you find this area you will need to turn off a setting that will be called "Warning Messages" or "Display Notifications", again the wording may be different but the idea is the same. Once you find the setting you should have the choice to set it to "ON", "OFF" or to an amount of time it will display (5 seconds, 15 seconds etc...).

On my Viewsonic the setting is found under "Setup Menu", and then I turn off "Warning Notification".

GOOD LUCK!!

ps. If the display looks OK then there is most likely nothing wrong. The message appears because the monitor detects a setting that may be in error. If the message goes away after a bit and doesn't bother you, you may choose to ignore it.

How to I improve the contrast. Black text tends to be too grey; and the light blue text tends to be too 'white'. I am straining my eyes, often, especially when I use Picasa in Google. I have either lost,...

Change the “Contrast, on the Monitor:” Part (1) Right click on an empty area of your Desktop Screen, next click Personalize to open. Open the “Window Color and Appearance,” in the Color Scheme category, choose a “contrast settings.” Note: After making all changes to the Display settings, click on the Apply and Ok buttons to complete the adjustments, and restart the computer to finalize changes to take effect correctly. To "Fix" the (Resolution), click Display Settings; follow these steps: Adjust "resolution.” Click, Advanced Settings, select Properties, click on Drivers, “select to” Update Drivers; click “OK!” Part (2) To start, right click on Desktop screen, at the (top) of the menu, check see if the Graphic ™ Control Center is visibly present? If so, click to open; you can adjust the Graphic Settings. Click “OK” when finished!

MONITOR MENU EXIT BUTTON ARE NOT WORKING

This is the exact same problem which I am facing at this moment. I opened the Case of the monitor. I saw that there are 2 small buttons with a extended rod attached which goes into the buttons on the Monitors body. I saw the Contrast button is stuck. I also saw that the monitor pads and the monitor sensor board has complete rust. I think I have to change the button pads and the Monitor Board. The same thing I am seeing in your case. I think this is a cause of Excessive moisture content in the air which is causing rust and jamming of Buttons.
I think now you can get what to do.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

Hp m705 display-menu flickering..

Don't worry, and not be taken aback by a virus. It is a problem which I am myself facing, it is a problem seen in rainy season in which the curcuits of the monitor get rust and pads get pressed. Replace it by new components. Heating the monitor ( by bulb being hanged aside ) may solve the problem.

Dear mahendra

Welcome to Fixya Customer support

This is common problem observed in many monitors compaq,HP,IBM this is happens mainly in rainy season due to moisture,by this moisture monitor botton circuit get rust inside and button pad remain pressed. so it shows a strip at the middle of monitor like contrast or brightness. So this is minor problem just replace the monitor display control button sensor or circuit. It deffinately solves your problem.

Screen settings

Hello,

You want to recall the factory settings. There should be an entry in your menu for this. Sometimes its clearly indicated as 'reset' sometimes it is a word that means much the same, such as 'recall'.

The numbers you posted that have a 'K' at the end are settings for the white color temperature. This is an old label from the early days of TVs. One is better than the other for graphics vs clarity. Usually you want the higher setting.

Other wise, if you can't locate the reset option. Go into each setting for Contrast, Brightness and set Contrast 50 and Brightness 100, the others affect the position of the display and how square it is. Set all those values for trapazoid, etc to 0.

Anything else you need clarification on please comment back and I will validate or correct your instincts on what is the reset option command if you are unsure about what is being displayed.

Regards,
Worldvet
