The orange light is blinking after the paper has been fed but doesn't start printing. I turned it off and it spits out the paper to the tray.

When I print a "letter" size document I have to push the green button to make it print. If it is legal it prints automatically to the legal tray.

Obviosly your magazine (Place of taking paper) of the printer is set to legal. The lights is lighting, couse the printer is telling you: You want me to print on letter, but I don have any letter, so please confirm that you want me to print on legal.
In order to avoid this set the printer to all types of paper available.

Orange light blinking, cleared paper jam, changed printer cartridge, won't print subsequent documents.

Double check all doors/ rollers for small pieces of paper stuck in the rollers. Sometimes just opening the door in question and closing will reset the paper jam sensors. Paper jams can be smaller than your pinky finger nail. So double check,

Comment if it still isn't working.

Hi there,
It seems that " Print on both sides (Manually)" is selected in printing options., when you want to print any document Go to file Print > select printer and click properties and disable the Manual printing option in device settings.
You should be able to get printing without errors,
if the option is not checked then check for the default paper tray,
save the settings and reboot your laptop/desktop and restart printer as well so that settings should work properly and any given command gets clear from memory, If these all settings are ok, Uninstall the printer driver and download the latest version drivers from HP website and install see links below

Hp 5550 printer problem

Hello,

You have a paper jam. If you have more paper that is left to be fed than paper already printed, pull it out from the feed tray, if not pull it out from the ejection position. You will not harm your printer.

After you do this, turn you printer off. On your PC's desktop if there is still a printer icon near your clock display in the bottom right double click that and then in the window that pops up drop the file menu down and select delete print jobs. Turn you printer off, shut your PC down. Turn your printer on, press and hold the power on button until you receive a test page or use your menu to select print test page. Also, do a nozzle check and print head alignment too all while your computer is off. Once, done, restart your PC. When you have a desktop, go to start menu, control panel or settings, printers. Select your printer to open up the printer properties page. From this, print a test page. If you have done everything right it should print okay. If you still have a printer icon in the system tray (area next to clock display) double click this again, select any print jobs left in the printer and choose resume or print now or print.

If you have any questions your get stuck, use the comment box below to comment back to me. I'll get back to you as soon as possible to help you out. I'm in and out while operating my business.

LJ 2200 not printing 1 doc

If only one document won't print, I would focus on the document, not the printer

The document you're trying to print most likely has one of several issues. There could be character combinations and hidden characters located in the file that are inadvertently being interpreted as printer codes; the paper settings or preferences for the document could be forcing an unsupported paper type, like A4; or the document itself is possibly larger then the printer can en queue.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:

Depends on the document type. Word processing documents can be cut or pasted in notepad (A Windows Accessory) to strip hidden characters. You can check you print preview to see the paper size, or force the job to 8.5x11, or try breaking the document into smaller parts.

With spreadsheets and other programs you can try to print only a portion of the document to see where the failure occurs.

Special Note:

There are also issues when printing from terminal apps, SAP, AS400, or command-line pipes (if you use these types of thing you would know what I'm talking about) where you need to force the printer to release the page by sending a double carriage return or end-of-page code. This is more complicated and you will have to get help from your Network Administrator if this is the case.

Hopefully this was helpful and remember to vote...

Printing Dillema

Flashing resume light also can mean:

1. cartridge is missing or an incorrect print cartridge is installed
2. cartridge is out of ink
3. dirty cartridge contacts
4. paper jammed

Check are cartridges firmly snapped into place and not empty. Use water to wash copper on cartridges if contacts are dirty.
