Question about Canon ZR25MC Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Eating tapes When I insert a tape, new or used, several different, I immediately get an eject cassette message, and when I try to remove the tape, it is partially stuck inside and starting to unravel.

    Yes MY MVX2i is doing the same thing...how do i cure this problem?

    I need to use the video cmaera this weekend!!!!

Try removing the battery and charging it. Then put the battery back on the camera. This will reset the cassette system. The cassette should open or close depending upon what status it is in. Once you get the camera to eject fully, clean your heads with a dry head cleaner cassette for Hi8 video. If your camera is still eating tape, could be a broken pin or damaged heads.

Canon ZR500 won't close cassette bay


If your camcorder experiences an error, you may be presented with a ?Remove the Cassette? message. There are several reasons that this message may appear, but it is essentially a safety warning that is designed to protect the camcorder and/or tape from damage. The camcorder?s tape drive mechanism is made up of many precision components that, once damaged, may cause further problems if the mechanism continues to operate. When a problem is detected the safety mechanism is activated. The ?Remove the Cassette? warning and the camcorder?s safety mode may be activated by a variety of conditions such as: 1. Condensation is detected ? If condensation is detected by the camcorder, the ?Remove the Cassette? warning may occur. 2. Component failure ? If an electrical or mechanical component in the camcorder fails, the safety mode may activate to prevent any further damage to the camcorder. 3. Sand or grit damage ? The camcorder?s tape drive mechanism consists of many tiny gears. Sand or grit can cause a gear to jam and stop turning. This will cause the camcorder's safety mode to activate. 4. Impact damage ? If a camcorder is accidentally dropped or bumped against a hard surface, it is possible that a misalignment of the tape drive mechanism may occur. 5. Liquid damage ? If either the camcorder or the tape is exposed to water or any other liquid, a variety of malfunctions may result. Please avoid this situation. 6. Improper videotape insertion ? If a tape is forced into the cassette compartment, or if the cassette compartment is pressed down while the tape is loading, damage may occur to the tape drive mechanism. Please refer to the User's Manual. 7. Damaged or defective tape ? If a tape becomes damaged, please discontinue its use. Operational Recovery Steps Depending on the conditions that caused this message to appear, it is possible that the camcorder operation may recover. Please follow these steps: 1. Eject the videotape Insert a new or known good videotape. If the message does not persist, it is possible that the tape was damaged. When I inserted a new dv cassette into the camcorder to record - it chewed the tape then the "eject" message came up, I inserted a new tape and the eject message showed up again. I have also noted a whine...



This can be caused by several problems including the transmission gear in the tape mechanism not engaging properly or a defective clutch in the take-up spool and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

When I insert a tape, the screen flashes "reinsert cassette".


Hit your camera several times with a flat hand (bottom, tape side). Its strange but my problem was solved. On internet I found maybe 10 or 15 other people who did the same.  Really works!

Yes i had the same problem ...
1.Put the cassette as far as it allows... and move the cassette left and right slightly twisting , and you will activate the mechanism
2.SOON the mechanism gets fully out immediately!!!! remove the battery
3.CLEAN contacts (I'm looking right now on the internet to find where the hell sensors-contacts are)
4.PREY that it works :-)

My Camcoder says eject the cassette


Use a Sony head cleaning tape they work perfectly and you let them run there 10 second corse. Then your sharp will run perfectly...

Remove The Casette Message


THESE CAMERAS ARE PEICES OF ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest that no body buys from cannon again!!
I am suppose to record my sister-in laws wedding and BOTH of my ELURA 100's are displaying the EJACT TAPE message!

"TEMP. FIX"
This takes pateince however for me it works....When you get the EJECT TAPE mesage....eject the battery with the power on (thus the power will go off by means of the battery not being in camera) then slap the battery back in....and KEEP doing this untill eventually the camera will NOT DISPLAY the message and actual work.

It may take up to 20 trys ....slap it in..slap it out...slap it in slap it out...BUt for me it works.

If it appears to work but as you hit the RECORD button it beeps and displays the EJECT tape message again...Go back and eject the battery again and repeat the STEPS...but dont worry , that means your getting closer to it working.. LOL

P.s- I hate CANON

YOUR TAPE MAY BE DAMAGED IF YOU TRY TO OPEN THE CAMCORDER - HOLD EJECT BUTTON DOWN BEFORE ! YOU REATTACH BATTERY THEN READ THE ERROR CODE ? IF IT STILL DOES NOT EJECT .
