Two days ago, my DVD player displayed lines through the TV. I changed out DVD players and the second one did it as well. Found out it could be the "Board" and costs$500 for a teck to come and replace....

It sounds to me as if it was NOT the DVD's but ya TV was on the way "Out" so to speak, and now it has failed completely, and yes unfortunately this is par-for-the-course. Of course ya couldfind out which exact board it is and try replacement ya self?

Mitsubishi 55" RPTV - Pictures goes out, sound stays on after on for some time

Sounds very typical of a component failing after heating up for a bit. Often in the Power Supply or Horizontal Output section, WE find the offending component(s) usually by using a can "Freeze Spray" and spraying suspected compnents when the problem stops thats ya faulty one... replace it/them and usually thats it. But if ya no good at doing it yourself.. then it's off to the shop... Generally because of ther size these beasts cost a bit to fix.. If ya have to take this route, ensure ya get a firm "Quote" AND an explanation of whats what. G L. Oh and offer to take it to the Shop, this will.should save ya some $$'s

Tv does nothing

ahhh the noise maker comes to life again .. Ok my friend this is a common problem with this set If your lucky?? If you know anything about trouble shooting tvs then this is what ya got.. Try first to measure the Horizontal output transistor. It will meaqsure a few ohms between the base and emmitter. But the base and collector should measure about 450 to 550 olms on the diode settings onm the metter.if it measures shorted you need to replace the flyback tranformer along with the Horz output transistor. Now if the HOT( thats horiz output transistor)is not shorted then theres a little coil in the horizontal drive thats causing problems as you need to take out the coil from the PCB and scrape off the ends and reinstalkl it. also the horizontal driver tranformer as well as the resistor that feeds the transformer could be bad and thast is a 3200 ohm at three watts. if ya dont have a clue what I just said the sets gonna cost ya ariynd 200 to 300 to fix .. Is it worth it to ya>?????lol Good luck
