Song order stuck on alphabetical

No matter what I try, I cannot get my Opal to put songs in the order I want them. It changes spelling to the actual titles and disregards track numbers or other codes I use when I rename my files. How can I force it to play in the order I want?

I'm using an OPAL 4204... pretty similar unit... can't figure out how to get a playlist onto this thing. I have "synched" it with media player - had to do it manually because it is only 4gb... but the only playlist that it seems to support is the "favorites" that is internal to the unit, and then I have to go through on the device and put them in one at a time... it's like going from a keyboard to a cell phone and trying to type up a resume... rediculously slow and tedious... Any ideas???

Try using the auto-sync option in Windows Media Player - some playlists only transfer correctly when this is enabled.

Most of the time the sucks under the albums file won't be in alphabetical order, usually you have to go under the folder and change the view settings. if you can't do that then manually arrange them if possible. and if that doesn't work, they will stay like that.

Help

This is from Memorex FAQs:
Some programs put the track number as the first 2 characters of the song title (file name) this will cause the player to put the songs in the same order as the CD (or album for those of us old folks). If you drag files onto the MP3 players you can arrange them in any order you wish in the file view of your windows computer. When you go through the songs on the MP3 player, they will be in alphabetic order based on the file name (song title usually). You can't change the player's settings to play in anything but alphabetical order. There is a work around: People can force the play list order by naming the songs with a numeric prefix (i.e. 01, 02 etc) so the alphabetic listing in the player will put them in the order you prefer.

In order:
*The battery life specs listed by the manufacturers are based on ideal laboratory conditions, and are almost never right. (You'll also notice that you don't actually have a full 8GB's, and that it doesn't take as long to charge the unit as the manual suggests. And the big one - this player will not fit as many songs on it as the manual suggests.)
*Four hours is not unusual. Sounds about right.
*The battery is not replaceable on this particular unit.
* If you can listen to your songs, they are formatted correctly. Mp3-format songs take up less space than wma's, so you can fit more mp3 on a player than wma's, usually.

The player seems to me to be operating normally.

Seperating musci by files

Work with your Lyra. I use the alphabet to keep my songs in the right order.
1. Connect your Lyra MP3 player to your computer using the proper cable, and click on your desktop to open "My Computer".
2. Click to open the drive labeled "Lyra".
3. Right-click on the song name, and choose "Properties" from the menu.
4. Go to the "Details" tab (I believe)
5. Highlight the name and change it. For Example: If I want the song "We Will Rock You" to be my first song, I name it "aaaWe Will Rock You". I want the next song to be "We Are The Champions" so I call it "aabWe Are The Champions"
6. Some songs have security issues and will not allow you to change their names. Then you are out of luck.

I hope this helps.
