Generic ink? If yes, the cart circuit board has a short circuit. This cant be repaired!

When I put a new Black ink in my Canon MX452 it shows my black as empty

Hi

if the black cartridge is genuine and new...take it back. It is faulty.
If the cartridge is refilled or compatible...hold the STOP button for 6+ seconds to disable ink monitoring. This should clear the 'empty' error and the printer should work again.

good luck!

Replaced two ink cartridges now the other one says it's empty. It was just half full before.

Try to reseat/ remove the cartridges and put it back in. If it is still the same, try to put the old ink in and check if it will still show half full, if it does, it means that there might be something wrong with the detector on your printer. But usually, printers have this issue but will fix itself in 24 hours. It is just a lag in the printer's counter

HP Deskjet 5740 I have not used my printer in some time and both cartridges are half full. It printed with the black but came out with gaps in the printing so i took the cartridge out and put it back...

it is better to change the black cartige becaue there is the jam of the ink in black cartidge. or pick out the black cartidge and clean with soft paper in the place from where color is pour. then reinstall the cartidge. i hope it will ok. otherwise, change the cartidge.

Black Ink wont work.

I would take the ink cartridge out, grab some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, and wipe the bottom of the cartridge where the ink gets dispersed. You should see color on the q-tip after just a few swipes. Return cartridge back into printer and give it a go!!

Please be sure to rate this solution.

Ink Cartridge

Some of Epson's cartridges went bad that way. It may be a bad cartridge. Get a new one, pull that one out and see what happens. If it works, call Epson for a refund. They had a class action suit for that type of thing, they lost and paid off. I would think they will help you right away.

Misreads ink tanks: says full ones are empty and there are 2 cyans, etc.

I had the same problem -- error message saying two cyan print tanks installed. Nothing helped (including disconnecting power cord). Then found I had an older cyan print tank still in its pack on hand, Installed that. No further problems. Assume this means print tank giving error is part of a faulty batch so am returning to retailer for refund from Canon.
