Try resetting the printer: Note: it will erase all network settings.
Turn the printer off, press and hold the GO button, turn the printer back on, continue holding the GO button for at least 10 seconds, but for fewer than 20 seconds. After the Go, Attention, and Ready LEDs turn on, release the GO button. During this process, the Attention LED will turn on, the LEDs will begin to cycle, and the unit will perform a cold reset until the printer returns to the Ready state.
NOTE: If either the Go or Ready light turn off or no LEDs turn off before the GO button is released, repeat the process.
For PCL XL error: try to reinstall the printer drivers.
The printer has encountered a service error. You need to press and hold the Green Go button to see a secondary error light configuration. If you can repost after you have done this i will be able to tell you where the fault lies.
-switch off the printer, then remove all cables connecting to the printer but just the power cable. -then press and hold the *(start/symoble) and 5 button togather and turn on the printer. -continue holding the button till you see "perment storage init" displayed and releas the button. -then at a given point of time the printer will ask you to change laguage, time, date etc. if this does not sort the issue service is required.
Theblack print cartridge is empty or missing. The black-print-cartridgelight is blinking, and then printer stops printing. An error 40208 iswritten to the event log. The printer cannot detect the print cartridgecorrectly.
Reinsert or replace the print cartridge.
If the print-cartridge light is still blinking but the Attention light is not on, turn the printer off, and then back on.
If error number 40204 was writtent to the error log, the imaging drum is either empty or missing (I would suspect empty). If error number 10004 was written to the error log, the imaging drum e-reader may have failed. So, in either case, reinsert the imaging drum. If the light continues to blink and the Attention light (exclamation point in a triangle) is not on, turn the printer off and then back on. If this does not clear the error, replace the imaging drum with a new one. Again, if the light continues to blink and the Attention light is off, turn the printer off and then back on.
If the error persists after these steps, let us know and we can persue other options.
Check the HP forums for this problem, there may be some kind of 'secret' reset routine that must be done to clear the error from memory.
It could also be that whatever element controls the power to the fuser failed.
Curious: did you check the original fuser to verify that it had failed?
Since the problem is still there, the first fuser may not be bad at all.
They are in essence a resistive heater that could be checked for continuity with any multimeter.
