Hi,

Try:
1. Start/Run, type "msconfig" less the quotes;
2. in the System Configuration Utility window click on the Startup tab;
3. Uncheck those that you would not want to run on startup. An example is Google updater;
4. If you are referring to built-in Windows Services, this could be done on the Services tab. An example is Windows Time;
5. Another that you can work on is Start/All Programs/Startup/

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Salvaged washing machine. Works, but lid switch faulty, operated continuously so Replaced. Problem now is H & C water stops & starts, agitator turns slowly and then stops and beeps after a minute?

a lid switch only stops the program when the lid is lifted
that will stop any operations involved and in progress
so there would be no water in, bowm turning, agitator action until tye lid is closed where the program is resumed
check how you installed the switch and is it adjusted properly
it is also possible the same swotch that stops the machine when unbalanced

I have a Dell Latitude D630. When the laptop is switched on it emits a high pitched scream and will not boot. I disabled microphone in BIOS and machine boots fine. Re-enabled microphone and same probl

It sounds like a driver problem, normally the microphone is off on-boot-up. It should only be opened by a program wanting to use it.

Have you tried turning it off in the operating system, rather than the BIOS?

Download the correct drive here.

BRIGHTNESS symbol on desktop-- how to get rid of it

Most likely a program that loads when your computer starts..
Click your start key and type: msconfig hit enter.

This program is very similar to a light switch. Turning startup programs off and if you need them (any) turn them back on. As you can see my own msconfig. Anti-virus will run, but other programs are turned off. Now all you have to do is figure out what program it is.
This of course is the easy direction to try first.

Some programs need a substantial amount of RAM and in case of computers with smaller RAM, they tend to freeze. Either close some of the running programs or increase the RAM capacity. In every likelihood it should work.

I read all the feedbacks on how to uninstall but i cannot get it to work. First of all When i try to install K9 again it pops up a window saying there is a updated version would i like to install, I click...

Sounds like some kind of so called security software. I take it you'd like to get rid of it permanently so your computer functions properly? I would use system restore to go back to the date to before you installed the program. Go through proper instructions will stop and restart without k9 being on your system.

Installing AVG 8.5 on Windows XP professional getting error 0xc0070002. What is the fix?

Your computer's processor blocked an activity of a program by stopping the computer from working to prevent the activity from being executed (also known as DEP or Data Execution Prevention) and giving such error instead.
Try turning off the DEP for all programs by:
- opening Start > Control Panel > System
- Click on 'Advanced' tab
- In the performance area, click 'Settings' button
- A new window will appear
- Click on 'Data Execution Prevention' tab
- Click on the upper radio button (run DEP only for Windows services)
- Restart your computer

If it doesn't work or is turned off for all programs already then there seems to be a problem with your Windows (since you said that IE takes 100% CPU process), or the antivirus program isn't really compatible with your hardware and/or driver software.
