Will not print

My computer says there is a paper jam but there is no paper in my printer. I can make a copy and it works just fine. So I know my printer has no paper jammed in it.

We will experience this issue if the documents are pending on the printer icon or if the printer icon is paused. Check the status of the printer icon in control panel and clear all the pending documents and make it online if it is offline and then try to print.

SOURCE: Lexmark X3350 Printer

i think i found a solution for this.
its happen when you insert the papers to deep in the paper
jam jusy try to pull out the papers.
if its print its great , if not it should say load paper so in that
moment push the papers a little deeper.

SOURCE: Lexmark X5470 printer says, "Clear paper jam, then press check mark."

  1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
  2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
  3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
  4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
  5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
  6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
  7. Turn the printer off.
  8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
  9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

SOURCE: Paper Jam

Sometimes the "paper jam" with no paper is due to the printer not being able to feed paper in to the machine. You send a print job to it...printer attempts to feed paper but can't...then you get the paper jam message and ofcourse there is no paper in the machine. Powering off and on should clear the message. Make sure you clear the print job from the print que or the same thing will happen on power off/power on because the computer will still try to send the print job to the printer when turned on. I have found that all of HP's machines that have this style of paper feed mechanism fails prematurely. The pickup roller is too small for one but as soon as the roller is coated with dust it begins to fail. You can take a Q-tip and go in from the back to try and clean the roller. Water is fine.

SOURCE: printer keeps reading paper jam

We had exactly the same problem (and this printer had never been used before) - we fed a piece of thick-quality paper, applied a little pressure from the top edge as it descended, and 'voila' the printer has finally fed one sheet right through.

What it is NOT yet doing is aligning correctly with the top margin of the document - it is more or less cropping off the top portion, but I'm trying to finish taxes and this will darn well do for now.

These printers are cheap plastic junk, manufactured to make the trip to landfill as soon as possible. Damn Canon and all the other corporations making these trashy pieces of electronics. (I still have a LaserJet 5MP, and I'm sure HP hates me for it - circa 1995 manufacture). If I can figure out how to get printer drivers for OS 10.5 (mac) it will leave to see more service still. Grrrr.

Photo paper jams when I try to copy print, or copy from computer. Copy paper works fine

Hi Lawrence Lewis,

I would be happy to help you with your Officejet printer. If I understand correctly, you can print and/or copy on plain paper, but not on photo paper, is this correct?

What printer model do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Knowing your printer model will help me to better assist you.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
I work on behalf of HP.

HP 6200 without telling it to print, feeds and jams continually

I already encounter that problem lately. when you print your documents, the only response of the printer is paper jam. feed and jam.

try this tip if acceptable of your situation now.

only to do is copy your documents by edit button and then select all or highlight all that your going to print and then right to copy

and then, open a new documents page set up if needed.

and then print it without saving your file because that already save.

Paper jam

I have had this problem, and have became very furiated.

Clear the Jam by removing and paper you see in from the rear access door.
If you are printing something from a PDF website....... make sure to have it still in the printer schedule.... It will still say printer jam..... but have it there regardless if its something you dont want to have to retype into the pdf form........ After that simply restart your computer. It should resume printer as soon as your computer boots up.....

Worked for me..... Hope this helps everyone else whos probably cursing your printer at the moment!!!!

Dell 1600n Will only print with sheet feeder open

Rollers may be worn out and not properly grabbing paper or a gear may be broken. You should be able to inspect by lifting cover to feeder and watching as paper is pulled through.
