Problems with the window mount that comes with the Garmin 360
The Garmin 360 I purchased works fine, but I can't figure out how to attach it to the window mount. The window mount came with two pieces, one attaches to the GPS system, and the other attaches to the windshield. I can't figure out how to attach the ball joint on the windshield part to the mount that attaches to the GPS system. Is there some other piece I'm missing?

The Garmin Nuvi 255w comes with a three piece dash mounting kit. A round disk smooth on one side tape on the other to affix to the dash (most dashes ar textured and the suction cup will not hold to textures) a suction cup arm with a ball end, and a bracket with a receiver for the ball. Snap the bracket and arm together, this can take a little effort. mount the disk to your dash in a place that doesn't obstruct your view of the road. then place the arm/bracket on the disk and push the lever down creating suction to hold the mount to the dash.
Another option it the beanbag dash mounts that hold the arm without sticking to your dash.

If the unit is under warranty, then send it back to the manufacturer. I had one customer that had the same thing happen and the manufacture offered to replace her unit free of charge.
If the unit is out of warranty, the manufacturer will not sell you a replacement screen. You can find them on eBay, but unless you know how to take the Nuvi apart, you face damaging the unit further.
If the touch screen is bad, the Nuvi will not recognize any presses on the screen. Having worked on many of these units, there is really nothing to go bad on a touch screen unless its physically damaged or has become disconnected from being dropped. If it appears that the glass is cracked, then it is the LCD display that is bad. The touch screen is a clear film layer that lays over the LCD display.
I would strongly suggest that you purchase a Garmin friction mount and no longer use the window mount. With a friction mount, your Nuvi will not fall and the friction mount is legal in all 50 states, whereas a window mount may not be.
Hello rkfowler, While the suction cup mounts included with most GPS units are very effective, they certainly can fail. It sounds like you are doing everything you can to make it work: cleaning both the windshield and the cup itself. You also might try putting a few drops of water onto the suction cup before affixing it. If the suction cup mounts aren't working out for you, Garmin does have a couple of other options including a vehicle mount that uses a super strong adhesive or a friction style mount. These are available from Garmin directly on their website (www.Garmin.com) or through your local consumer electronics store, such as Best Buy. Best Regards, Ken "Go Ahead. Use Us."
Greetings, There is a seperate black clip that should have come with your gps if you purchased it new. Here is a link to Amazon to get a better idea of what I am talking about: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8125# If you have the clip then there is a round indent in it that requires a good measure of force to attach to the suction cup mount. Take Care, -WN
