  • ronald1936 Apr 28, 2008

I have the user manual, but it does not tell how to rerset. What page can I find this info.

  • ronald1936 Apr 28, 2008

I( tried everything in the user manual. P31 & p39-48. I tried accessing the system from a touch tone phone, per page 36. Still no go.

  • ronald1936 Apr 28, 2008

This is a cordlesshone. it does not have a fax capability.

  • ronald1936 Apr 28, 2008

The handset battery is fully charged. I can make a call and receive a call. The caller ID is working fine. The problem has to be in the answering machine area.

  • ronald1936 Apr 28, 2008

None of the suggestions offered by you and you coworkers have solved the problem. It appears to me that you do not have a solution. Thanks for the effort. Ron

This solution has been tried. It is found on page 48. Thanks for the effort. I'll just buy a new phone. Ron

Also make sure its battery is fully charged

    Charge the handset battery

The battery may have enough power to allow for short calls. If the battery power is low, NEEDS RECHARGING will appear on the handset screen. For best performance charge the battery for at least 16 hours the first time.

    • If the unit is not responding normally, try putting the cordless handset in the telephone base or the charger. If it does not seem to respond, try the following (in the order listed):

    1. Disconnect the power to the telephone base.

    2. Disconnect the battery on the cordless handset and the spare battery in the telephone base.

    3. Wait a few minutes before connecting power to the telephone base.

    4. Re-install the battery and place the cordless handset into the telephone base or charger.

    5. Wait for the cordless handset to synchronize its connection with the telephone base.Allow up to one minute for this to take place.
If above procedure has no result, perhaps your unit board, internal cables, keapad etc , must be inspected but some experience in electronic troubleshooting is necessary.

How do i set the clock

what model machine do you have? If it is similar to what I've had maybe i can walk you thru it.
Press change and CH should show in the display window. Press and release clock button and it should announce the day, to change the day setting hold down the skip/scan button or the repeat/scan button (this is for whether you want to go forward or back, i.e. from Friday to Thursday, etc. When you get correct day set, press and release clock, again & go thru holding down the skip/scan or repeat/scan buttons till you have correct hourly time, release button. Press clock again and repeat the skip/scan or repeat/scan until you get correct minutes, release button. To check if you did it correctly press and release the clock button. It should announce the correct day and time.
I hope this helps you, if your answering machine is similar to mine this should work. If it isn't give me the model number and I can try getting you a manual. Good luck, Barb

To set the clock, press and hold Clock until you see a C in the message window. The current (or default day) will be announced. Hold either Memo/Repeat or Annc/Skip until the correct day is announced. Then release the button. Press and release Clock.

The unit will announce the current hour setting. Hold either Memo/Repeat or Annc/Skip until the correct hour is announced. Then release the button and then press and release Clock.

The machine will announce the current minute setting. Then hold either Memo/Repeat or Annc/Skip until the correct hour is announced. Then release the button. Press and release Clock.

The current day and time will be announced. In the future if you press and release Clock, the day and time will be announced.

Additional setting information is on the bottom of the unit - for resetting after a power failure.

The manual for the AT&T 1717 is available here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/AT%26T-1717-manual/id/473bh041/t/2/ . You will need to solve a captcha to download the file.
