Hello All,

With 69% magenta drum left, Okidata technician says I need a new drum which according to Okidata is out of warranty. Total pages printed is almost 6000. New toner cartridriges are installed. Machine is less than a yeay old.

Thanks in advance for replying.

Regards,
Mr. H

-   I have streaking on my magenta toner and the drum is still 90%.
I tried cleaning the LED and checked the Fuser and belt.
How can I do the print calibration? I can't find it on the control panel or the printer menu.
I have an ikidata c5800 model
And its always the magenta drum thats having the same problem-   jc216

-   Hi all! I have the same problem with my OKI C5800. Magenta streaks all over the paper. Printer is a little bit over 1 year old and i have printed few more than 4000 pages. But i really print more than 5% coverage of page....roughly calculated in average I print 60-70% covered page (mostly printing graphics and pictures. So i guess that 1 drum hangs in for about 3-4 toners and that's it then...no matter the page count...

-   I get magenta streaks on the first few pages out and then it goes away. Wastes paper and toner. Getting other problems now too. Drum life was above 30% when this all started...now down to 15%. It should work fine if it's not 0% right? Isn't that the whole point of the usage menu? Otherwise it is a HUGE variable and anyone's guess as to how often a drum needs changed. -   Guest

-   1.Any toner around the drum was vacuumed but to no avail. 2.The magenta drum and toner cartridge were swapped position with the yellow and the streaking followed the magenta, indicating the streaking follows the magenta assembly.
From my research, the fix requires a new drum.  However, what is irritating is the drum life left is 69% and the number of pages printed is only 6000. It appears the product quality is questionable and or there might be an inherent design to promote premature sale of toner cartridges and drums. Regards, Mr. H-   Guest

Your getting Magenta (red) or cyan (blue) streaks down the page, chances are that image drum is bad.
You can try cleaning the LED heads in the hood of the printer. little alchol or glass cleaner on a paper towel or rag and wipe them off.
sunlight is an image drums enemy, sunlight will destroy the image drum. more then likely, streaks or dots going down the page is that color image drum, even if they're at +90%..

Streaks can be caused by a number of things
The fuser
The ETB
The toner cartridge
The firmware
The printer needs a cleaning.
The slot in the printer.
Incorrect Media.

Try cleaning the printer, use a lint-free cloth for the ETB, DO NOT touch the belt with your fingers, the oil from fingers will often make things worse.
Always use a lint-free cloth, if you ever encounter dirt inside the printer, dampen the cloth.

Calibrate the printer.
From the printer's control panel menu
Configure Device-> Print Quality-> Calibrate now.
(Press the Checkmark key to advance through menus)

- To check if its fuser. Just put a sheet of paper in the manual feeder in the front of the ITB drawer. Print a configuration page and when the back edge of the paper reaches the bottom of the feeder, open the back of the printer to stop the printing. Now open the itb drawer and look at the unfused sheet and see if the defects are present. If they are it is not the fuser. If the defects are gone, then it is the fuser.
