Oki C5800 prints magenta streaks

Hello All,

With 69% magenta drum left, Okidata technician says I need a new drum which according to Okidata is out of warranty. Total pages printed is almost 6000. New toner cartridriges are installed. Machine is less than a yeay old.

Thanks in advance for replying.

Regards,
Mr. H

1.Any toner around the drum was vacuumed but to no avail.

2.The magenta drum and toner cartridge were swapped position with the yellow and the streaking followed the magenta, indicating the streaking follows the magenta assembly.

From my research, the fix requires a new drum.  However, what is irritating is the drum life left is 69% and the number of pages printed is only 6000. It appears the product quality is questionable and or there might be an inherent design to promote premature sale of toner cartridges and drums.
    Regards,

I get magenta streaks on the first few pages out and then it goes away. Wastes paper and toner. Getting other problems now too. Drum life was above 30% when this all started...now down to 15%. It should work fine if it's not 0% right? Isn't that the whole point of the usage menu? Otherwise it is a HUGE variable and anyone's guess as to how often a drum needs changed.

Hi all! I have the same problem with my OKI C5800. Magenta streaks all over the paper. Printer is a little bit over 1 year old and i have printed few more than 4000 pages. But i really print more than 5% coverage of page....roughly calculated in average I print 60-70% covered page (mostly printing graphics and pictures. So i guess that 1 drum hangs in for about 3-4 toners and that's it then...no matter the page count...

I have streaking on my magenta toner and the drum is still 90%.

I tried cleaning the LED and checked the Fuser and belt.

How can I do the print calibration? I can't find it on the control panel or the printer menu.

I have an ikidata c5800 model

And its always the magenta drum thats having the same problem

Your getting Magenta (red) or cyan (blue) streaks down the page, chances are that image drum is bad.
You can try cleaning the LED heads in the hood of the printer. little alchol or glass cleaner on a paper towel or rag and wipe them off.
sunlight is an image drums enemy, sunlight will destroy the image drum. more then likely, streaks or dots going down the page is that color image drum, even if they're at +90%..

Streaks can be caused by a number of things
The fuser
The ETB
The toner cartridge
The firmware
The printer needs a cleaning.
The slot in the printer.
Incorrect Media.

Try cleaning the printer, use a lint-free cloth for the ETB, DO NOT touch the belt with your fingers, the oil from fingers will often make things worse.
Always use a lint-free cloth, if you ever encounter dirt inside the printer, dampen the cloth.

Calibrate the printer.
From the printer's control panel menu
Configure Device-> Print Quality-> Calibrate now.
(Press the Checkmark key to advance through menus)

To check if its fuser. Just put a sheet of paper in the manual feeder in the front of the ITB drawer. Print a configuration page and when the back edge of the paper reaches the bottom of the feeder, open the back of the printer to stop the printing. Now open the itb drawer and look at the unfused sheet and see if the defects are present. If they are it is not the fuser. If the defects are gone, then it is the fuser.

Okidata c9650 printer. technician told me to replace transfer belt in my unit because i was having an issue with the color print quality. It had a light streak running through it and the top of the page...

That message is indicating that you need to replace the black drum which also may have been what was causing your origanal issue. Whenever you have a print quility issue print four seperate documents each document using one of the four colors (black, yellow, magenta, cyan)used by the printer. If the problem only shows up in one color then that is where the problem is coming from.

If the streaks are only from the magenta then your magenta drum is bad. If you recently replaced it, it may still be under warranty.

Drum not spinning properly

open the top cover, there are 4 black leds above the drums attached to the upper cover, these can get toner on them and cause streaks as they are what write to the drum. wipe them with a dry cloth and see if that helps

Oki 5150 color are not print right

You need to replace the magenta drum. Just because there is life left; it's possible it is scratched. Also, take a cotton ball dip in alcohol and wipe the LED's off when the cover is open; those black things that are hanging down from the cover. Also, make sure your drums are installed in the proper spots (magenta in magenta slot). If the toner "rubs off" after it prints... then the fuser is defective.

LED Head Missing, Color:Magenta

Take out the magenta cartridge to the right upper indside wall of the printer you should be able to see a small rectangular window, give it a blow of wipe with a cloth, do the same to the corresponding part of the m toner, put the drum and toner back, shut the lid and everything should be ok. If not contact oki for a replacement drum/cart.

OKI C5200 - Faded black print area

Trying cleaning the black LED's that are on the top portion of the open clamshell. Use rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe each bar x4/. These units charge the drum surface where print is going. This should work.
