Panasonic DMR-ES30 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo Since the digital switchover in Wales I am unable to set the machine to record using the programme timer. The only way to record is via AV2 and that will only record the channel TV is currently tuned to and switched on. Not much use for recording when out. Is this machine now obsolete for anything other than playback?

hook all you rca1.gif cables up to the audio/video in from the cable box, tv, and dvd/vcr combo then out to the surround sound youll also need to get some rca cable splitters for the out so you can run it back to the audio/video in to the tv as well as the surround sound here is alink to what they look like
http://www.altex.com/product_info.php?cPath=344&products_id=6201
youll need thre of these of course when hooking it up dont pay attention to the color on these just the ones from the tv and surround sound and thats it your done it will all work if you want it to were you dont have to get up and push a button everytime most of them if you push all the buttons in at one time theyll stay like that

SOURCE: no playback

Emerson charged $17.00 for the upgrade software and the darn thing will NOT play any DVD recorded with Apple IDVD regardless of 1X, 2X, etc. I emailed Emerson customer service after the upgrade and they will not respond. I guess just need to throw the Emerson out the door.

SOURCE: Can't switch from AV2 to AV1 with Samsung DVD-VR375 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

To be able to select AV1, you have to first go into the setup menu and set the control set top box setting to OFF. I think you go to the menu >> setup >> features >> set top box control >> select OFF. Note that this has the side effect of erasing any previously stored timer settings.

SOURCE: Panasonic DMR-ES45V - DVD recorder / VCR combo Remote not workin

My remote is not working. When I press a button, I get the following message on my unit: U12, U30, SET #, CHK REMOTE #, or RC #. What can I do to fix this? The message displayed means that the remote control and unit are not communicating and the remote needs to be programmed. To program the remote, press and hold the same number that is displaying on the unit and the [ENTER] or [OK] button for more than 2 seconds. For example, if the unit displays “SET 2”, press and hold [2] and [ENTER] or [OK] for more than 2 seconds.

I have DMEZ 47V DVD recorder/VCR combo and panasonic digital/ HD tv...when I set up to pre record the equipment seems to accept the information ok but when i try to playback all i get is ..."cannot...

The reason for this is simple; the built-in digital tuner does not support HD, only SD. You cannot fix it, at least not economically where the recorder combo is concerned. But you can obtain a separate HD set top box, and connect the outputs of it to the inputs of your combo if you really want to record HD channels. It's crude, but cheaper and easier in the long term, and it doesn't damage your machine.

My Panasonic DMR-ES30 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo is about 5 years old now its fine on stand by but when i put a dvd or vhs in after about 10 seconds it cuts out completly any solutions on how to fix it...

This is a good sign that the power supply is having a problem. In standby or even on without a tape or disc, the current draw is low. Once a disc or tape is inserted there is a higher demand on the power supply. This is usually some defective capacitors that are easily replaced. Realize that there are other possibilities as well, but the power supply is the most common. The parts cost is in the $15 range.

I have an HDD rerecorder that now sjips and freezes

HD takes more info and if you don't have a fast enough processor to handle this, that might be the problem.
The age of the recorder would tell you that. If it's 3 years old that might be it. Also how can the recorder record the HD signal unless it has the right tuner??

I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-ES30VEB could you please tell me if this will still be able to record if I buy a new Panasonic digital TV??

Yes, connect to AV2 and you can select the output for AV2 from the menu.
Most tv's send a selectable signal out through av2 but if you match to your Panasonic, you may find it will automatically set up with the dvd recorder(like Sony Smartlink)
You simply go into the menu, select the av2 output set up and pick what you want to record. I.E. dvt, av1 etc.
