Question about Panasonic NN-H264 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Panasonic NN-H264SF now requires holding a control panael to operate

Our 3 yo microwave started acting strange. Once the program is set and start is pushed the light would come on and the fan too, but turntable would stay still, no heating would occur and in 3 seconds it would shut down without beeping. Once some light pressure is applied to control panel bottom in and up it would operate quite normally, and once it starts cooking you can release the panel, it would keep operating.
Call to Panasonic service resulted in gibberish answer. It appears there is some loose contact somewhere, but the guy kept talking about a "control board" being burnt. No holding would help if the board was fried.
Any advise if it can be repaired on my own?

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Panasonic NN-F542BF 1300 watts microwave switches off after 3 seconds

It sounds like you were sold somebody else's problem, it could be a bad magnetron, cracked high voltage diode, and a shorted high voltage capacitor to name a few. I recommend a professional if you feel it is worth getting checked.

Panasonic NN-H264SF Microwave oven starts with a chirp

No I dont think so, check that the wheels on the rotating ring are not seized up and dragging. These will make a chirp type sound as it starts to rotate or even when it finally comes to rest.

Child sign in window of microwave ,cant start it panasonic

On my NN-L738BA there is a Child Lock feature.
You set the child lock by pressing the Start button 3 times.
If the Child Lock is enabled it displays the word :CHILD".

To disable this feature on my microwave the manual says to
press the Stop/Reset 3 times.

Check your manual for the Child Lock.
