"Yeah... My neighbor's storm-felled tree clobbered my 51ZM A/C, shed, garage, and part of my house. I wish the tree had backdrafted onto the neighbor's house instead, because it's impossible to find an A/C as QUIET and powerful as my once golden oldie. It's a shame the manufacturer does not make room A/Cs anymore. I searched for the 51ZM's BTU information in manuals on the company website at <http://www.commercial.carrier.com/commercial/hvac/technical_literature_printable/1,3075,CLI1_CNT2_DIV12_ETI7425_MID1548_QRYY,00.html>
In the middle box type in 51ZM. Laugh at the "OBSOLETE" status on all three hits and download happy. For the BTU data I tried the Start-up and Service Instructions 1988 Room Air Conditioners "51" at <http://www.docs.hvacpartners.com/idc/groups/public/documents/techlit/51-20ss.pdf> and lucked up on the Start-up and Service Instructions 1989m 1990 Room Air Conditioners "51, 77" at <http://www.docs.hvacpartners.com/idc/groups/public/documents/techlit/51-22ss.pdf>.
Wary of what is actually involved with fooling around with an A/Cs innards, I watched videos at <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QYJE8ZrlUI> and <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V7Bhqy04VE> and <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLb7LC_egq4> and <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8DgFfhKCts>.
I'm selling out, or buying in, or whatever. I'm looking into stimulating our percolating economy by dropping a few grand on one of the company's central air systems. My reliable machine is tree-boned toast and its innards are not my scene.

Make sure the unit is level, this is very important. Check for blocked drain tube, which runs from the bottom of the drain pan under the cold coil to the outside. Clear tube with a piece of coathanger wire, be gentle.

Actually dry and moisture setting cannot cool your room because in that sitting the temperature is limited, you have to set the control in cool or auto.. If the unit is blinking try to reset the unit by disconnecting the power supply for 10 sec.("on" & "off" the circuit breaker), and test the unit.
But if wont work the unit have some defect it may be the thermistor, low freon, or the outdoor unit have some problem. Check if the outdoor and indoor unit is clean or you to call a qualified technician for this problem.
