I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 5.9 automatice 2 wheel drive and it dumps gas into the carb with a code 37 coming up. could the intake gasket cause this problem? i have replaced the coolant temp sensor, the iac, beggining to think the ecm might be bad, any ideas?

Code - 37 TCC brake switch circuit error. this is the torque converter clutch. Open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter part throttle unlock solenoid control circuit

  • For turbocharged engines , code 37 will be triggered when the baro-read solenoid circuit is open or shorted.
  • For normally aspirated (non turbo) engines with automatic transmissions, code 37 will be triggered when the Part Throttle Unlock (PTU) solenoid circuit is open or shorted.
  • For normally aspirated cars with manual transmissions, code 37 is sometimes set for no apparent reason.
This is detected when the ECU doesn’t sense near 0vdc or 12vdc at the relay when the solenoid is turned on or off. When code 37 is thrown the power limited light will not be lit and the system will not enter limp mode.

Dodge ram 1500 5.9 idles rough and stales out

This truck has problems with the cover inside intake leaking vacuum and causing rough idle and oil usage , its hard to say what your problem is with out testing, have you had the check engine light scanned for codes? what year is this dodge?these also had intake leak problems. try starting the engine and let it idle and then with some carburator cleaner spray around intake gasket and see if idle changes if it does then you have a intake gasket leak, another problem may be a leaking injector, try some sea foam in the gas tank and run a half tank of gas and see if that helps, otherwise a fuel injection system cleaning would be the way to go but this is only if its an injector problem, if this truck is 1996 or newwer have the computer scanned at an auto parts store for any codes. if there are codes let me know what they are even list the code and #. good day

My dodge is a 1996 dodge ram 1500 with a 3.9 v6. my truck runs rough most of the time, i took it to autozone and they said that the check engine light was indicating that the truck was running too lean....

intermittent lean condition may be caused by leaking intake manifold gaskets. Get some carb cleaner and start the truck. Open the hood and spray carb cleaner on the intake manifold gaskets. If the engine reacts at all, you have a gasket leak. If you have questions, please let me know.

Dodge ram 1500 engine rpms surge at freeway speed

those sensors could cause the issue, clean the MAF 1st, also clean the idle system using the following procedure, the IAC can cause cruise surge. I use this to cure these problems all the time.

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve (IAC) and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
