Question about RCA P56830BL 56" Rear Projection Television

Rca p56830bl picture fade out

Rear prjection rca home theater 97 model P56830BL, when turned on the picture quickly shrinks from the top and bottom to center then fades out.
the sound is still ok. thnk you

    is this something I could be walked through as it is a little beyond my normal tinkering?

It seems like the vertical section of this TV is not working causing the whole TV to go to shutdown.
This repair might not be a DIY, since the symptoms will require you to make quite a few electrical measurements to pin point where the failure is located.

    I do not know how much you know about using a multimeter to measure voltages, resistors values, diodes and transistors.

    Also you should have basic hand soldering and desoldering skills as well.

Sounds like a vertical and horizontal deflection issue..maybe your control board is unhappy.
you inclined to do this work yourself?

All RCA/GE sets have a chassis number on the back.

I got sound but no picture on my 52 inch rca floor model tv i sure its the bulbs but not sure how can i find the prices or the rite bulb for it


That set is a 1994 model set. You have 3 picture tubes in that set of which are no longer available or made anymore.

No picture, but sound. Menu page is visible, how is this so?


Vertical blanking has shut down vertical Deflection but allowing the menus to appear. Replace the vertical transistor. You can get replacement vertical Ics at www.tvrepairworld.com
