Make sure that all songs meet the player format (mp3, acc, wmp). If you are downloading from a P2P site you need to make sure that the file you download matches your players format. My son had this problem with his Zune. If need be you can get a conversion program from cnet.com.

Are they all songs, or do you have some voice recordings or audio books on there as well?

Have you tried turning the lock switch from locked to unlocked. There will be a little circular switch on the edge of the ipod that will appear red next to if it IS locked.

Apple Ipod Nano does not play songs

It could be that the Format type is not supported. Like OGG isnt supported. I would look into using a different OS on it like Podzilla or RockBox

Green and ORANGE? orange indicates the iPod is searching for music.
UNDERSTAND this- when you play music in the iTunes app., you are hearing the music in your computer not the iPod.
1) Install the latest iTunes application.
2) Do a restore
3) sync your iPod

I can't hear the songs in ipod

Green and orange?? Sounds like you need to restore your iPod.
Understand this: iTunes plays what is on the computer, NOT the iPod.

Very serious problem with ipod classic plzzz, help me out!!

That is most likely because they are not in the right format for the ipod to play. For the songs, right click on them and click on convert to mp3. Then transfer the mp3 song on there and it should work then. For the videos, you will have to download a free converter for them and let them be converted that way. It should work normally after that.

Audiobook download

Playing Songs, Audiobooks, and Podcasts on iPod shuffle iPod shuffle allows you to play your audio files in a couple different ways—you can play songs, audiobooks, and podcasts in the order in which they appear on your player, or let iPod shuffle work its namesake magic for you (that is, shuffle the files by playing them randomly).
Show Me How
If you want iPod shuffle to play audio files in the order in which they appear on the player, move the switch on the top of the iPod shuffle to the play in order (circular arrows) position. If you want iPod shuffle to play songs in random order, move the switch to the shuffle (crossed arrows) position.
ip02_playfnky_04_shuflebutton.gif This iPod Shuffle is set to shuffle.
To play music, an audiobook, or podcast, just press the Play/Pause button. To skip to the next song (or a different song if you're in shuffle mode, or a different chapter if you're listening to an audiobook or podcast), press the Next/Fast-forward button. To fast-forward through the audio, hold down the Next/Fast-forward button. To go back to the beginning of a song (or the previous chapter), press the Previous/Rewind button; press this button twice to go to the previous song or hold it down to rewind through the file.
To stop play, press the Play/Pause button during play. To turn off iPod shuffle, move the switch to the Off position (you shouldn't see green beneath the switch).
