Go and buy a universal remote with button memory capability. (able to learn any remote function). That works great for me.

If you need a replacement remote for the Cinego D1000 to reset the Lamp life, dont waste time with a Universal remote, the Logtech remote will operate the DVD player but not the projector. Go online to 1-800-REMOTES and type in the Brand and model, the original remote has been replaced but it came in the mail in two days, batteries already installed and ready to go, It worked Great I reset my lamp life in two seconds, and Im back watching movies outside pool side

See if the remote has a code system where it can address several units of the same model type in the same room. Usualy there is a switch on the front that will have 2 or more positions when this option is present. The idea is to be able to separately command a number of these units in the same room.

Carefully read the instruction manual for the remote. If it still does not work, take the remote back and get it exchanged.

Or if possible, bring the unit with the remote to the store and let them try to make it work.

When powered up picture comes on very dim then it turns off but unit fans stay on for 5 minutes then shuts down all the while the power button is flashing.

You most likely need a new light bulb. The bulb is an Osram P-VIP 180/230w. Just google it, or here is a link to it: http://www.purelandsupply.com/D1000-Bulb-Cinego-Lamp-Bulbs.html They cost about $180 new. Good luck!

PS - Be sure NOT TO TOUCH the bulb when you replace it. The oil in your finger skin will cause the lamp to fail early.

My cinego d1000 overheats 5 minutes after i turn it on

Replace the heatsink and fan with a better one and make sure the proper amount of thermal paste is used (about 1 decent drop)

If you have the video cable plugged in as composite, check the red connection plug, it should be just as tight as the others. If this is not because of the connection described, your unit probably need repair. A local Radio Shack can tell you where to send it.
