Question about Frigidaire FRS26R4A Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Frigidaire refrigerator Hi.  I've noticed all your post and all are very helpful.  My Frigidaire refrigerator model# FRS26KF7Aw6 stopped running.  The condenser fan runs, but the compressor won't.  Not getting cold at all.  When I plug in the power cord, after a few seconds I get about 15 amps at the compressor wires for about 10 seconds, than a relay or overload protector clicks and looses power.  This will happen over and over.  I'm guessing the starter or bad compressor.  If the starter is bad will the compresser still start up and run?  The refrig. is 4 years old.  Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike

Check the overload, take it loose and inspect it for a burnt spot shake it if it rattles replace the relay
you either have a relay bad or a stuck compressor
the compressor has a 5 year warranty on the part, the relay 1
so if you relpace the relay and it still doesnt run the compressor, call for serviece under warranty

My fridge gets really hot on top and between the fridge and freezer where the door meets

next time send the model number and brand name.usually when this happens is the condenser fan motor isn't working.pull the fridge out, remove the bottom back panel and check the fan to see if it's working,if it is check the condenser coil to see if it's filled with lint and dust,it could just need to be cleaned out but if it's that hot most likely the fan isn't running,if you get this tonight check it now,if the fan isn't running you could blow the compressor, the condenser fan blows and keeps the compressor cool enough so it doesn't overheat by moving the hot air and the heat also esscapes through the condenser coil so if that's clogged with dust the machine will run hotter than normal,if the fan isn't running you can stick any window fan back there and blow it onto the compressor to keep it cool until you fix the condenser fan motor, this way you won't loose any food and if the compressor goes it's new fridge time,to much to repair.hope this helps and good luck with your machine.one more thing,i've found the fans not running and by pushing the blade it runs again,if this happens the fan could run and never have a problem or it could stop an hour later but i would change it out no matter what.if it's a G.E. fridge and the motor isn't running, most likely it will be the computer board,i've found 10 machines doing this and the temp. settings turning on and off or the evap fan motor in the freezer runs slow and then fast and the condenser fan isn't running or running slowly, this is why you have to send the brand name and model number.

Frigidaire FRS23R4CW2 side by side refigerator It is running but it is not cold at all. the fan work I check the back of the refigerator. what is the problem.

Hi, if the condenser fan is up and running at the back, what about the compressor? When the fan is on, the compressor should also be on. Place your hand on top of the compressor, but carefully as it could be very HOT if it is locked up! If it is hot, more then likely the compressor has failed and is off on its overload. If you can hear it click on and off so often, it is stuck and tripping on the overload. Check the condenser coil in back to make sure it has no layer of dust covering the front of the coil. This will cause internal pressures in the system to be very high causing the compressor to stop. Check and make sure the fan in the freezer, evaporator fan is also running. Check what I have asked of you and keep me posted.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

Hi, Check voltage to the fan. The fan will only run when the compressor is running. If you have voltage to the fan whilr the compressor is running, replace the fan.
I hope this helps. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

It should not need help getting started and will hurt a little to stop with one finger also it will cause the sides of the frig to get warm maybe even hot around the door try puting a small fan behind the frig with the back panel off till you can replace the fan that will help you know if that is causeing your cooling problem

Not cooling after smoke damage

Assuming that the motor is running, my best guess would be that the condenser (a large grid of thin piping) was covered in soot, and should be THOUROUGHLY cleaned, preferably with compressed air.... The condenser will either be underneath the unit, behind a small panel in the front bottom of the unit, or at the back behind a cover at the bottom of the fridge which runs the whoile width. Make sure the fan at the back near the compressor is also running....if the condenser fan is not running when the compressor is running, it won't cool. If the condenser is excessively dirty, it won't cool!
