I cannot hear or be heard my phone (just out of the blue) and when I try to check the volume setting on the side of my phone, it says "master volume/car kit". I've tried powering it off and on again and also plugging it into the charger. Do you have any other suggestions before I have to take it into to the store because I know there will be a substantial charge for that !!!
Car Kit doesn't necessarily mean the phone got wet, but it does mean that there's a problem with the charging port. Most likely there's a lot of corrosion in there, and if you clean it out then it may get the phone working again.
The best way to clean your charge port is with some contact cleaner and a toothbrush.
If the problem persists after that, then you'll want to bring it in to a store and get the phone serviced or replaced.

Have you checked by doing the following: 1) Go to Control Panel->Sounds and audio devices. 2) Click the Audio tab. 3) Under Sound Recording. 4) Click the Volume button. 5) Adjust the Microphone's volume till you can be heard.
You must adjust the volume on your phone; make a connection with some one using the blue tooth and then try to raise the volume on your phone and also on the car stereo and you'll hear the other person. hope this resolve your problem.
The internal screen settings only adjust volume of ringer, the external button on side adjusts ear piece/hand set volume. If the volume buttons do not turn up the volume of the hand set then the handset is defective
There are many reasons for this to occur, first select a profile and set the ringer to an audible tone and adjust the volume to a lever you can hear clearly. To do this first try pressing the silver button on the left side when the main screen is facing you(Open phone) and if you look closely you'll notice one button on the side has a top and a bottom half the top increases the volume and the bottom decreases the volume. If the volume it up all the way and you still hear nothing then press the menu button and go to settings, followed by going to sounds and select the profile "normal" and adjust as necessary to make your ringer alert you, if the tone is not heard try a different one, if all else fails remove the battery and leave it out for two minutes, then put it back in and turn your phone back on. This sometimes is necessay to make a newer phone clear a "bug" as newer phones are much like MS Windows and require a re-boot from time to time. I hope this helps...
Push the center button(in the middle of the four directional arrows). Scroll over to the screwdriver/wrench icon and select it. Scroll down to the "Audio" line and select it. Scroll down to "Loud Detail" and select it. Set "Ring Volume" to a higher number(I use 7). Have someone call you and you should be set. If this doesn't work, with the phone open, look at the two buttons on the left side of the phone, push the top button until you have your desired ring volume. Good luck!
