Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

Touchscreen Blues To start let me explain. About a year ago my DS' touchscreen, simple version, went wacko. Technical version, to see how bad it was i use picto chat and drew a Horizontal and Vertical line. The results, on the Horizontal line start on the far left everthing was fine till i start moving to the right. My styles was about 3/4 the way to the center, but the line was at the center. My sytyles was at the center, the line was half to the far right. The Vertical had no problem that I could see. This problem never really bothered me till I let my little cousin try playing one of my old games about a month ago. I've tried recalibrating for nearly thirty minutes, but no such progress what so ever. I believe my warranty on my DS has expired, and I'm wondering how much replacing or clean my touchscreen would cost, and if it would fix the problem?

it needs caliberating which can be done by going into the setting

I don't mean to be rude, but... "I've tried recalibrating for nearly thirty minutes, but no such progress what so ever."

the cost would come to less than £30, see if you can find the repair shop, make sure you ask them the price before they even start

This is the best one so far, exept how do I find a place to repair a DS and what does this £ symbol mean, I'm guessing it a money symbol not from the United States .

Touchscreen not responding. Frozen

Two thing can cause this. If your unit is running firmware version 5.3, this version has a bug where the touchscreen will work for about 5 seconds then the unit will lock up. Updating the unit to version to version 5.4 will fix the problem. More info can be found here:

If you are running firmware version 4.9 or 5.4 and the touchscreen still does not respond, then the touchscreen will need to be replaced. On the Nuvi 7xx, the touchscreen may be soldered to the LCD display, so if you don't have any soldering experience, please have a professional replace the touchscreen. More info can be found here:

My DS's touchscreen won't work i can use the arrows to navigATE but not my touch scren.

There are a few third party screen replacement options available for you if your DS is no longer covered by the warranty.

A replacement touchscreen is about 30-$50. They are not to hard to replace if you have the right tools.

Look around for "DS replacement touchscreen" & "DS Specialty screwdriver" They can be found on Ebay and in shops on google.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Ds lite dropped while open, touchscreen now white.

With white screens it usually the LCD that went out, since D.S. do not have a reset button, the only way to reset it to Factory settings would be to remove that battery, and you would need to remove the little screws on the back. I would leave that last. However if you guys have had this DS for less than a year i would contact Nintendo, or go to the website
because you would still be under the one year Manufactures warranty. I would highly recommend to not state it was dropped. Just that the screen went blank all of a sudden. Touch screen works fine. Make sure there is no physical damage though, as that usually voids warranty. I had to do that for my Wii. No cost to me since under one year. If its been longer then the year then you could do the hard reset by removing the batter for a few mins.
Good Luck!

DS Lite bottom touchscreen seems "stuck"

i think you should either get a new ds or tap the touch screen hard. if tapping the touch sreen harder does not work then that means it is time for a new ds.

Ds searching for downloads

Replace your touchscreen!
Looks like it is stuck on the location of the 'DS Download Play Icon' So when you turn your DS Lite on it automatically tick on that Icon and your Download starts. No way to turn that off untill you disconnect the touchscreen connector from the systemboard or replace it completely

Reseating Touch Screen Ribbon Cables

The cable for the touchscreen is one with 4 conductors that connect directly to the overlay on the face of the LCD. The flat ribbon connector on the main board is quite delicate. The three connectors for the bottom screen are on the right side of the component side of the DS phat board. The touchscreen is labeled P6. On the DS Lite, the connector is closer to the R button.

Good Luck

My touchscreen does no work and games don't play right

The touchscreen replacement isn't too bad if you've got some technical knowledge, about 1 hour and a lot of patience.
I'd get the new touchscreen from a popular web auction site and the replacement is quite straightforward but fiddly, if you can wait for the new touch screen to arrive in the post, have a tri-wing screwdriver and a lot of patience you might as well go for it. Just take great care when replacing the bottom case to line up the power switch (and volume control) with the external plastics so as not to cause any damage as a broken power switch isn't an easy replacement.

Ds wet...

hi, this SHOULD be an easy fix. Just set it out to dry somewhere, but seeing how you dont have a screwdriver, this may take a few days, try a hair dryer on low, or a fan.
Have a happy new year
