Transferred all my files onto my computer, then proceeded to format the memory card whilst in the phone. transferred all the files back onto the memory card and bingo the music player works fine. Strange that the memory card was from my samsung e900 and worked fine.

How do you get your 6700 to play music etc on the headphones

Hello,

Your phone includes a media player for listening to songs and viewing video clips. Music and video files stored in the music folder in the phone memory or on the memory card are automatically detected and added to the music library.

To open the media player, select Menu > Media > Media player.

Music menu Access your music and video files stored in the phone memory or on the memory card, download music or video clips from the web, or view compatible video streams from a network server (network service). To listen to music or play a video clip, select a file from the available folders and Play.
To download files from the web, select Options > Downloads and a download site.
To update the music library after you have added files, select Options > Update library.

Play songs
To adjust the volume level, press the volume keys.
Operate the player with the virtual keys on the display.
To start playing, select icon_25.gif
To pause playing, select icon_26.gif
To skip to the next song, select icon_27.gif
To skip to the beginning of the previous song, select icon_28.giftwice.
To fast-forward the current song, select and hold icon_27.gif
To rewind the current song, select and hold icon_28.gif. Release the key at the position you want to continue the music playback.
To switch to the music menu, select icon_29.gif
To switch to the current playlist, select icon_30.gif

To close the media player menu, and to continue music playback in the background, press the end key.
To stop the media player, press and hold the end key.

Hope it helped.

Your memory card is infected with some virus.
So scan your cards. if the problem still go on then just format your memory card using data cable or a card reader to pc

Music function not working

I had to play around with my phone after I had it replaced and they did a mirror copy of the software. I was previously using a memory card to hold my music because I am a game freak and have tons of stuff on my phone. Try downloading your music to "My Music" after clicking the phone icon on your "My computer" window on your computer. Once I added a song or two there, then it went and found the rest of the music just fine. It would show up in my library for the touchflo tab, but not in now playing. I will check back later to see if you still have problems. Good luck!

Always shwoing update when i want to open music player

i had the same problem.

it's possibly because when you uploaded your files to your memory card, they weren't the right file type.
plug your memory card back into your computer, open the folder, right click on a file and go to properties.
if it isn't an mp3 type file, it will not play on most phones.

also, make sure you format the card before you put music on it.
BE CAREFUL. formatting the memory card will erase all of your data.

hope that helps :)

Check whether you have the required music player to run the song you have downloaded . If not get a player which can run it.

Cannot play music

i think the music player software of your phone has got corrupted due to some error. it would be best to reinstall the software on your phone.

for this you would need a few things handy before you start off. first move all your data like pictures and songs from the phone memory to the memory card. now you would need to have nokia pc suite installed on your pc and you would need a data cable compatible with your phone. keep your phone in general profile and make sure the battery is full. connect the phone to the computer. the computer would recognise and install the usb drivers for the phone. now open nokia pc suite and configure the phone. next click on backup phone data on the nokia pc suite main screen. now it would backup all your data from the phone like contacts, sms, settings etc onto your computer. next click on software update. the suite would search for the software (note: you need to be connected to the internet) and would turn up with the software for your phone. now the installation would proceed. once it is done, again click on backup and restore the data from pc to phone. the reformat is done!

after this i would advice you to be careful while you recieve data over bluetooth or data cable. accept data only from reliable sources

Your music may be located in a folder your phone doesnt recognize...that happend to me at first.

First you want to format your memory card through your phone. This will place the required folders on the card.

I used Windows media player to sync the music on my computer to the memory card using a media port on my computer. (just inserting the card directly to my computer). Once music was downloaded I looked at the card through "my computer", and noticed folders...one named "Music" and the other named "My Music". I moved the files from "Music" to My Music". Reinserted the card into my phone and the phone picked them up.
