Question about Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation

Nano 8GB does not get recognised by itunes

I have a Nano 8GB which shows up as a removable drive on my PC. I can dump music on it, which can be played, it shows on the screen as ROOT:\ (name of song) but even after repeated attempts I have not been able to see it under itunes or sync it, the itunes diagnostics does not find it either.

The music on iTunes actually has also been on your Mac, you can find it by right clicking on the music to choose "Show in Folder".

I have a black 8gb ipod nano and when I sync previous songs

this is what you will do, when you sync it again stop the automatic sync the click on your player on the itunes window to see its details, you will see 3 or 4 checkboxes and check manually add music or songs and ucncheck if there is any, the box that says automatically sync music, then click sync, it will start syncing again the disconnect. add songs only to the folder where itunes have got the songs so that next time you sync the ipod the songs previously added wont be erased.

Setting up new Ipod Touch 8gb

Reinstall iTunes. That's the easiest way to fix this problem. But don't uninstall it. Just download the latest version from Apple run it and restart your computer.

Used ipod wont recognise in itunes

If you are on a PC the most common reason for iTunes not recognising is because of driver corruption. The easiest way to resolve this is to download the very latest version of it from the Apple site and reinstalling it. If that doesnt work, reset the device by holding down Menu and Select until the Apple logo appears then hold down Select and Play together until the display reads 'OK to Disconnect'. Now connect it to your PC. iTunes should now recognise it and you should click the 'restore' button on the ipod main page of iTunes.

Ipod nano 4gb

If you install the itunes version 7.5 that you downloaded, you wont lose your music library. It is a separate file from the programs installation files. You don't need to uninstall the previous version, the new one will install on top of it.
