GE triton dishwasher middle spin arm not spinning

My top rack is not cleaning. As I thought, when I opened the door the middle arm was not spinning. I don't think it has enough pressure to spin. This may be caused by gunk built up. what can I do about this? Thank Kevin

I also am having a problem with my middle arm not turning on my GE Triton XL (model number GSD6660G02SS).  I took off the sprayer off and did not find any reason there. Any advice would be appreciated.

Same here. I have a Triton XL. The top spinner works, so I know water is going up the back main conduit. It must be losing pressure at the docking cone or at the mid spinner nut hub. I'm going to test with the top rack out and see if water is coming out the docking cone.

How do you take off the top spinner arm to check? My top dishes never get clean. I would like to avoid calling a service person if possible.

    Thanks,

    Margie

Neither of my two top sprayers are spinning. I can't figure out how to flush out the tube to see if there is a clog....

  • Anonymous Apr 29, 2009

The dishes in the top rack always come out dirtier than when they went in. The spray arm spins and water comes out. I've tried powder and liquid detergent with the same results. Any ideas? (GE Triton XL, 3 yrs old.)

I had the same problem and found two things which were causing it
-The O-ring was missing off of the tube connection on the back of the dryer that inserts into the sprayer tube. I found a size 11 O-Ring at Home Depot and it worked
-The openings on the underside of the spray arm are what propels the sprayer to spin. I found small pieces of plastic debris in the openings and cleaned them out.

Now the middle arm spins like it should.

I had the same problem - top rack items dirty and an on-and-off grumbling noise throughout the full cycle. A simple number 11 O-ring did the trick! For three years I could not figure out why it made such noise and then the top rack stuff (glasses, etc.) started coming out dirtier than when they went in. Try this before you try anything else - if it works, it's a fifty-cent solution!
(The O-ring fits around the short tube that extends from the back of the dishwasher and into the top rack's intake tube.)

I also had that problem. I replaced missing o-ring and that did not help. What did work was digging out the debris that had collected in the two holes that are on the underside of the arms. These seem to act as propulsion jets and are needed to spin. Hope this helps. Good Luck

There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishes. the dishes look dirty because your water has a lot of calcium and magnesium in it making them appear cloudy or dirty. the dishwasher filter reduces those minerals and my dishes look perfect now. no more dirty and grimy looking dishes. i also dont waste time washing them by hand before and after the dishwasher. hahaha you can get it at dishwasherfilter.com. use code DFMTEN and you will get 10% off. it fits right under your sink and is very affordable. you will be glad you bought this product. thanks

Tablet keeps coming out of the dispenser on my hotpoint fdl 570 dishwasher on all cycles and falls on to the floor, result is that the crockery isn't always clean on the top tray. Machine is still...

Hi Jeanette,

Maybe I misunderstood your question, but the tablet is supposed to come out of the dispenser and fall into the bottom of the dishwasher. It needs to fall into the hot water in the bottom of the washer to dissolve. The dispenser releases the tablet at different points in the cycle depending on which wash cycle is selected. On a shorter cycle it will be released soon after starting. On longer cycles, there is usually a rinse first, so the tablet will be released a little later. There would only be a problem if the tablet wasn't being released, or wasn't dissolving completely.

There are a number of reasons for poor cleaning on the top rack. The most common are the upper spray-arm not spinning, incorrect stacking or overloading. If the upper spray-arm isn't spinning, there may be caused by a blockage in the spray-arm or the water delivery system, but, as the dishwasher is new and it's not happening every time, it's possible that the dishwasher isn't levelled correctly. The spray-arms aren't motorised, they use water pressure to spin, but they wont spin if they aren't balanced, i.e. the dishwasher isn't level.

You can check whether the spray arm/s are spinning by pointing them front-to-back, or left-to-right (so you can remember the position) and allow the dishwasher to run for a few minutes. Then open the door and check the position of the spray arms. They should continue to rotate slowly for a short while after opening the door, but if they're in the same place and static, they're not spinning. I'd suggest repeating this a couple of times to eliminate the possibility of them having stopped in the exact same place you left them.

If the spray arms are spinning, test the dishwasher with only a small load in the top rack. If the top rack comes out clean with a small load, you may be overloading it or stacking it incorrectly some of the time. There should be a correct stacking guide in your user manual.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, check whether the arms are spinning then post back.

Regards,
BElectric

Dishwasher leaves dirt on top rack

Still worth checking for hot water though, stop machine when you know its at a stage where the water is suppose to be hot. Also when the machine is loaded that the top arms are able to spin freely without hitting anything. Also make sure top arm holes have not got any old foo stuck in as this will stop them from spinning properly. Open door during wash and close door then re open to see how far around it has gone. Not as powerful as the bottom arm but shouldnt be that far of.

GE Triton seems to lack pump pressure to rotate the wash arms.

1)please check the impeller nut is loose.

2) please check the hose connected to the arm any block.

Middle arm stopped spinning

you may be exactly right. I always start with something simple. spin the spray arm to make sure it goes all the way around with out touching anything. next is the hard partyou would have to take the motor apart and any filters you see and clean out all the debris.

GE Triton arms don't spin

Peace,
Cut off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes and then turn it on and see if the system resets!
How old is the machine?

Other wise you need hands on service! And a new machine will pay for itself in only a few years!

Bless You!

Top rack not cleaning and spray arm possibly not moving

I removed the lower arm, the strainer, and three screws (Torx, but I used small allen wrench). I took of the pump cover, and found a small white ball blocking the tube that goes to the top rack sprayer. I put everything back except the ball. It has worked well ever since.
