Question about Carrier 38CKC024 Air Conditioner

1 Answer

We have recently had three problems with our three year old Carrier 24 ACA airconditioner that I believe has led to it no longer producing the low temp. chilled air it did when it was installed. !. water pump quit for taking water to to sewer, 2. blower fan quit(replaced under warranty we paid service call), 3 compressor froze up and service man ran cold water over it to lower temp. We live in southern In where we didn't use the unit much last year and this year we are hot. What temp. should the air coming out of the air ducts be? We only get 68 to 70 degrees on an 85 degree day.

Your air temp should be at least 20 degrees cooler than the indoor air temp. This is ideal. But it sound like your unit is low on freon. When units get low they will freeze up. They will also freeze up if air flow is restricted on the inside coil or the fan quits on the external unit.

Where is the problem with "-DC bus low" EX11RT?

How are you checking the batteries? If you are simply reading the voltage with a multimeter, then this is probably your issue. The batteries, when getting worn out, will often show full voltage in a static (non-loaded) state, but as soon as they are called on to produce load, their voltage will drop significantly, thus giving the DC bus low indication. Batteries in UPS's are similar to car batteries, they need to be tested under load to ensure they are good. If they are three years old or older, chances are they need to be replaced.

Lights on Rechargable Lantern.. Swissgear SG66301

I don't know how to solve your problem but, the three lights mean this:
Red LED light indicates the battery is being charged
Green LED light indicates that the battery is fully charged
Amber LED light incidates that the battery power level is low - the battery needs recharge.
Do not recharge you battery over 24 hours.

I have a choice of two different carrier ac models for home installation - 24aca336A003 and 24acb336A003. can you tell me the difference between the two?

I believe the aca uses R-22 refrigerant

the acb definitely uses R-410a refrigerant

otherwise the units are same specs.

I have a three year old Hobart. I am not sure

Look on the top edge of the door to find the data plate. It sounds like an SR24, if the leds are on the left of two temp gauges. If your sanitizer pump has a tired silicone tube that is flattened from use, it will not draw chemical. if you have an air bubble in the sense board at the back, it will think you have run out. If you have changed the type of chemical or diluted it, the board will need recalibrating to suit. Put some sanitizer in a small vessel with the pickup tube and monitor the amount delivered. Usually one is looking for 50 ppm solution of bleach and rinse water.( test with litmus paper) If you have an SR24H with a booster, you don't need bleach sanitizer and holding the sanitizer button will turn the sense off.

I have a Carrier 8000 weathermaker. Recently the blower motor began to run progressively slower and finally just bogged down. I replaced the motor, but the replacement motor has three speeds (red, blue...

Found system was slowly loosing coolant through a variety of miniscule leaks in rusting part of condenser. Apparently coolant level had dropped sufficiently in the blower repair interval to where the system no longer functioned with adequate efficiency. Bottom line - low coolant level as is the first suggestion in most related ac repair forum sites. I'm buying a Trane, this system is no longer economically feasible to maintain.

Cools for a while ... keeps running but stops cooling.

If the refrigerant has been accurately charged and diagnosed, I would look for an air restriction. Check your filter first of all. It sounds like it may still be trying to freeze up. Make sure all the vents are at least a little open and the return grill is not blocked. In the Rocky mountain region we like to see around 44- 50 deg. at the vents. 65 would tell us that everything is not ok.
