Question about Audio Players & Recorders
THE BEST WAY TO DO IT:
Obtain (1) a MiniDisc player with optical digital (AKA Toslink) output and (2) a WAV recorder than has an S/PDIF digital input and (3) a converter that takes the optical digital input and converts it to a S/PDIF digital signal.
Good luck finding a MiniDisc deck with optical output. Sony don't make 'em anymore and they were notoriously bad anyway. Scour eBay for one, and good luck. I purchased a used Sony MDS-JE510 on eBay for $45 in August 2010. Too bad my original MDS-JE510 broke down - for the 2nd time.
As far as a WAV recorder, I suggest a Microtrack II made by M-Audio which is found for $160-$180 brand spankin' new. I bought an earlier version of M-Audio's recorder called the Microtrack 24/96 on eBay in August 2010 for $80.
Regarding that optical-to-S/PDIF convertor, you can get that for under $20 on eBay or Amazon.com.
Once you transfer your MDs to WAV files, you transfer the WAVs to your computer via card dreader. Then, you use some WAV-editing software (do a Google search for Audacity) to manipulate the WAVs as you like. Then use another software program (do a Google search for CD WAVE EDITOR) to split up the large WAV into files.
Or.... you can find a hobbyist like me and get him to transfer your MiniDiscs for ya.

You would have to use the Sony MiniDisc software to burn them as a standard CD. A better solution is to buy an actual stand-alone stereo "CD Recorder" and go from the MiniDisc player to the CD Recorder and it will record directly, including track marks if you make it a digital dub! Check into getting a Phillips audio CD recorder, and Sony still makes a stand alone CD recorder as well.
