Panasonic changes the complete power supply for the fix.

If you want to change descrete parts, find out the cause of the failure and fix the cause before applying back the power. This is also valid when changing a complete board. A short or defect somewhere else will cause the failure to occure again!

My Sharp TV's Stand-by Mode (Red), Model 14V-K80M, turns ON, turns GREEN when the other button is pressed but turns back to RED after a few seconds.

Hi

Your tv set may have an overload in the supply line. Check its rectifier diode and filter capacitor. Another approach is to check if the DC supply line of the switch mode controller IC (UC4842 for exemple).is present (10/12V). If these are OK, replace the switching MOSFET transistor and check the source resitor for open circuit.

Will not turn on

Hi
This problem has two versions: no light at all or the standby light is on. Assuming the former, the fault may be one of the following:
1. Open fuse. Can be replaced.
2. Blown and blackened fuse. There is a short in the power supply or in its load mainly in the supply line.
3. Switching controller IC
4. Switching MOSFET transistor and its associated circuit.

I have a sansui tv set with a power problem . MOSFET W11NB80 in the power section is completly blown . can t get it in the local market in kenya what is the equivalent value. its a crt television...

Hello

W11NB80 is an N-channel 800V-0.65ohm - 11A - rated Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor [MOSFET]. You can use the folowing substitutions for it
[ 11NM-80, 12NK-80 & 10NC-802]. All of these are its equalent substitutions.
Before replacing the mosfet, check the entire power supply secion for any short circuit, or zener diodes faults. If any of the zener diodes are fused, it will run out the MOSET you sumstitue again. Check it keenly. Unsolder one end of each component, lifit it up a liile from the circuit board and check. Especially zener diodes must not show any leak in 100Kohms range. It is best to replace them all I suggests.
I don't know about its availability in Keniya, yet you try to get it from any electronic spare part shops. f feels any difficulty in getting the same contact [E-Bay] site, they will reach you the exact component at your doorstep. Ok.

The picture does not come on when I turn it on.

Hello

Your TV is now in dead condition I should say. You should strart from its power supply regulation section itsef to rectify the fault. Look into the fuse, a glass fuse is there, in power supply board. If It has found blown, make sure that there is something short in either power supply regulator side, of on the other part of the printed circuit board.
You just place a fuse of same rating as used, if the fuse is blown. If the fule you installed newly also blows off, check first the retifier stalk for any leak. The stalk contains four diodes, even any one of them gets shorte, fule will blow up. If there is no leak in the retifier stalk, measure the voltage resistance across the main filter capacitor, a bulky one capacitor fitted in the power regulator section. If you see a full deflection on meter, it means that there is some dead short inside the power regualtor system.
Usually Sony uses STR regulated type power supplies, and some uses MOSFET [Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors], as switching elements. Bothe of these types can be shorted, due to a high voltage spikes, or a sudden supply failure and restart.
Check out short test on these components, out of board, that is, desolder it out from the circuit board. You just resolder one by one and measure the resistance ad described above. Thus you can find out the exact component, that have a short. If any of these components shorted, check the entire power regulator section for any more component failure, like zener diode short, resistors opened, and so on. You should have a concept of soldering and a little knoledge in electronics. There will be a MOV [Metal Oxide Varistor] fitted across the power supply input, which look like a disc capacitor. it will get shorted when a certain voltage spike occures abvve its rated voltage, and apply a dead short at the supply stage. If any of them used, desolder it out and check for any leak, and is found leaky, replace it. It is used as a saftey measure, and without it the set will work fine.
Just check these and if you find any difficulty, contact me through Fixya. Ok.

Did you check the Horizontal Output transistor to see if it were shorted, and also check the MOSFET of the switching power supply.

There should be a small valued cap in the primary side (22ufd?) at 250V. Check that. Also, look for other small caps int he range of 2.2ufd with 200V ratings in the same general area.

THANKS

I will say that this part is shorted if it measures continuity on all the leads regardless on how you tested.
Was this mosfet nearby the power supply circuitry?
You can also check the horizontal output transistor that is mounted on a heatsink near the flyback transformer.
