You haven't stated the exact make and model so it's impossible to provide a specific answer.

However, if all you've done is to accidentally delete your SD card data and you have not written any new data, it should be entirely possible to recover the original data by using SD card recovery software. When you deleted your data it was not removed: all that happened was that the information which tells your computer where the data is was deleted and the file names were all slightly changed. Data recovery software can find and copy these files to your hard drive and you can then replace the deleted information so that the files are fully readable again. When you're happy that the job is complete, send the data to an SD card and you should be up and running again.

I cannot recommend any specific free software as the program I use is an expensive paid for option, but since buying it a few years ago I have heard that there are now many free programs which do many of the basic recovery functions every bit as well.

Just enter "sd recovery free" into your search engine and you should find a solution to suit you.

What is procedure to delete courses from the hand held devise? i have the SG4 Model. Thanks

Hello.

GPS receiver units are designed to translate signalsreceived from a satellite into recognizable graphic information using mappingsoftware. These systems are dependent on the installed software, butlike all computers they can experience problems up to and including unexpecteddeletion of the software. Because of this, many GPS systems have providedsolutions to some of the most common problems.
Operating System Deletion
If the hand-held unit does not display any functionality when activated, first try restarting the system. If the unit is a hand-held GPS, try removingand then re-inserting the batteries to reset the system. If the system still displaysno operating system, contact a professional for service. GPS software can alsobe bundled or purchased as part of a more comprehensive device, such as aniPhone or other smart phone. In this instance, it is possible that the softwarewas deleted from the system during a sync with a computer. Try re-syncing thedevice with the computer and ensuring that the GPS application has beenselected to be loaded onto the unit. If this does not solve the problem, thesoftware may be corrupt. Delete the program from the computer and download itonce again to the hard drive. Then, re-sync the newly downloaded application toyour device.Update Deletion
Occasionally, an error in the download or an error insyncing with a GPS hand-held can cause updates such as operating systemadvances, bug fixes and new map information to be deleted or corrupted. If thisshould happen, re-download the update information and sync it with the GPSunit. If update information comes in the form of an SD or other data card, thecard itself may be corrupted. Contact Thanks.

Stopped given me turn by turn directions , or talking ?????

If the SD card comes out while the unit is on it could cause the card to be corrupted. Try using another SD card and download from the CD the software and maps. Worked for me.

Hey seasea911,
I've read nothing but good things about Art Plus Digital Recovery software, but if it's not working I would keep trying different software until I find one that works. I would make sure your SD card is not set to the locked position before trying to recover your images.

Sincerely,
Allan

SD card problem

The most likely cause for the RED CROSS is that some files are missing or corrupted on the SD card. This can also occur if someone has accidently dragged and dropped files on the SD card. ie. if a folder or file has been accidently dropped into a different folder. For instance you could drag and drop the maps folder into the voices folder. In this case the unit wouldn't load up if you had no maps although the maps would still be on the SD card but would be in the wrong place. We all know that files on media can be damaged or become corrupted so its always worth making a GOOD BACKUP of any sd card so that should this problem arise you can reinstall the backup.
If you have no luck with your SD card , you could try borrowing a card off someone you know and make a copy of it then activate that copy by using the original activation code together with the device code. .... good luck .

TomTom 510 postcode

The postcode information has to be in a folder named ZIP. This can be either on the SD card or as a subfolder of the NAvigator folder in Program Files on your device
