Question about Whirlpool AKZ159IX Oven

2 Answers

Used our Whirlpool AKZ451 last night and everything was fine, but this morning, the small centre button on the front panel will not press. All the dials are set to '0' and the screen displays STOP. Usually you press the cente button and then you can select what mode you want, but it won't do anything now and so we cannot use the oven at all. Anyone know what the problem is?

    Yes I did.

Behind the clock button is a spring, and behind this spring is a little red button. For some reason, the spring wasn't moving anymore and so the contact with the little red button was not being made, and therefore the whole oven was not coming on.

If you remove the top panel and slowly pull away from the oven, you should be able to remove the button from the front. What you will be left with is the little red button, press this to see if the oven still works.

I had to visit the Whirlpool website to buy a replacement, cost me nearly £30 :os

My button didn't work, i had a look and water had got in and crusted up the switch, i scrapped off and a bit of WD 40 (or switch cleaner spray) and it was fine. make sure POWER is turned OFF to be on the safe side.
The switch is the same as the one's used in your computer mouse, but you would need a soldering iron !

You need to replace the oven element, located at the rear of the oven compartment, behind a removeable cover.

The oven works fine as in it heats up but when turned off the cooling fan keeps going...used it last night and this morning the fan is still on...turned oven on and it is heating up but as I said the fan...

most ovens use a cut in limpet themostat(sometimes called button stat) typically normally open and closed at 40deg c. it will be this that will be not resetting to the open position at room temp. on rarer models the timer controls the cooling fan. some models of aeg and electrolux have a thermal delaying device located in abulb in the wiring loom. hope this helps
