if it's only 2 weeks old - return for warranty service
there is a possibility that lens is misaligned (mine did the same thing when it was droped but they repaired it under warranty)

Its froze the lens is out and it just bleeps and flashes green when i press the power button

Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Hi, i have a Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player, and its recently been having problems in reading the discs correctly. As soon as i put the dvd in, the front display screen shows "Loading" it...

Hi stevenhanna,

You blu-ray player seems to have a problem with it's lens,

I would recommend you to

  1. Use a lens cleaner first which is available in the market for cheap price and if it does not work,
  2. Get the lens replaced by the manufacturer's service center if it's under warranty , if it's not under warranty you could possible get it repaired via a local vendor who is used to do such work, as it's just a lens replacement and nothing more that needs to be done.
  3. There is no need to get a new player for this problem , i hope just cleaning the lens would work.
Hope this helps ..:)

IN AUTO FOCUS FOCUS RING STICKS MAKES NOISE LIKE

How new is the lens? In or out of warranty? If out or warranty most likely solution is to find a Sigma authorized repair shop because your description sounds like the auto-focus motor gear has failed. If in warranty, check out Sigmaphoto.com for repair sites and also download the SIGMA_SERVICE_REQUEST.PDF. I've only had to deal with Sigma once on warranty matter and they were very helpful, provided UPS authorization for shipping on their nickel.

My FE-360 keeps shutting down with the lens stuck out. When you try and turn it on you can hear the lens trying to retract but it stays stuck out and the camera makes a bleeping sound. I have noticed that...

Your camera has a lens error, this is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply become dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse then contact the Olympus service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed the cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose by trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras with lens errors and is not model-specific.

If the link doesn't work then cut and paste the following address into your browser:-

Good luck, I hope you manage to use this information to fix your camera. Please take a moment to rate the speedy and free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome!

Canon digital IXUS 400. The lens will not retract. When turn on the monitor lights up after bleep , it then bleeps again, E18 appears in the left hand corner and then it powers off. The lens remains...

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Lens Error, Restart

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:
