Question about Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Smartphone

1 Answer

I was at my friends house and i pulled out my phone it bounced off the floor and into a pool. The phone must of been in there for about 5 - 10 seconds max before i got it out. The lights just turned on when it was wet and when water was in the screen but now when it's dry it wont even turn on. What should i do? :S

You should have immediately removed the battery and let it dry in a bag of rice (uncooked!) for a few days before turning it on.

Try drying it completely and take it to claim for warranty (if there is left). Its highly unlikely though, because there is a sticker inside to detect water damage but worth a try.

The next option would be to get it repaired. If the cost is nearer to a new phone, better buy a new one. But the data on phone memory will be lost in this case.

In a bag of rice to soak up all the moisture? If i was claiming on it what damage would i say rather than water?

Yes to soak the water. Silica gel would be better if you can get it from a pharmacy.

If wish to claim for warranty, try making up a story like, "Sir, I forgot my phone home and when I returned, it wasn't working" If they find out its damaged by water (by the sticker), try convincing them by saying it must be only sweat coz you carry it in you pocket at the gym. Its only a try though. Those guys are hard to fool. If you're lucky they may take your word and replace/repair it.

and remember that damage by sweat is also like damage by water and not covered by warranty either so use this excuse cautiously.

Thanks for the idea im using the rice idea but i think from researching on the internet that taking it to a phone shop might save some money because apparently if it just doesn't turn on it could just be the battery, as oppose to if it turns out and nothing that the phone is broken :S

Henry brushes seem to catch in the carpet when pulling-will the brushes soften and make it easier to use as it makes the head bounce of the floor a bit when pulling making it harder work to vacuum?

There is a "see-saw" type switch on top of the cleaning head (the part that you push across the floor). This raises and lowers the brushes according to the type of floor you are vacuuming. Move this switch to the other postion and you will find that it runs over the carpet more smoothly.

I have a water leak from where motor meets the housing (housing gasket) even after I replaced it (housing gasket). I don't notice any crack in casing. What did I do wrong?

Your seal plate could be warped or check for dirt at the base of the housing when you take it apart also check the brass gromets the six bolts screw into on the main housing. If these are pulled out at all you will need to replace the housing.

My aqua bug does not stay on the floor of the pool it comes off of the floor and gets pulled around the pool by the hose and i hav submerged it in water before hooking it up

If the pool cleaner is not staying properly sealed to the floor, it is very possible that it is a problem with the water flow. Make sure that you have adequate flow (clean all of your baskets, filter, and throat of the cleaner). You will also want to make sure the the pool cleaners shoes and wings are not worn or damaged. Replace them if necessary.

Pull the six bolts on the back of the pump and pull the motor and pump housing back. remove the difuser and try spinning the impeller. If it wont spin you may need a new motor. If you pull the wires. You can find a motor shop in your phone book and they can rebuild it for you usually for about 100 bucks. Or replace it with new for a lot cheaper than what your talking. Good luck.

When I went to buy mine I asked about the bouncing and shaking and he said alot of times people do not take the nuts and bolts off the back that allows the drum to move properly causing it to move etc. There is a pic on the back that shows you were to remove them.

Key bounced off the keyboard.

if its been popping off for a while, the best thing would be super glue... if you dont think you've put it on correctly, take it to your local PC store (they should do it for free, or want like 5,10 bucks), or you can buy a new keyboard.
