Question about Hunter 52" Ceiling Fan With Light And Remote Control
My new fan and light comes on at will. How do I fix?
I think you re-check your fan installation once again. before looking out for other options.

Contact Hunter Fan and they will send you another ceiling remote. Just received mine but have not installed yet. Good luck. Len

SOURCE: Hunter Fan problem
Joel, you could have anything from a loosened connection in the connection box above the fan, in the fan, or in the wall switch if installed.
because the remote or pull chain will not start the fan, it tells me the fan windings or bearings are probably bad.
I don't know what age this fan is, or the cost, but if it is a typical hardware type fan, I would look into a new one.
If for some reason, it is one of the more expensive fans Hunter makes, [over $200.00] it might be worth looking into repair, anything under $100.00 you will spend more finding the issue than a new fan would cost.
Let me know, we are experts in ceiling fans, especially older fans, some of those are very expensive, built with brass cages, have custom blades, I hand wound one hanging in an Art Gallery to this day, cost twenty years ago to rebuild it completely was over $2000.00 [four zeros]
It is a very common repair cost versus new price evaluation, you have a problem in that two devices will not start the fan, one mechanical method and one electrical which is 90% chance it is something fairly severe in the fan.
You can send me the some photos or estimates of the cost, if it is one of the high dollar fans, I can help you find a shop locally to look at it, again if it is a typical off the shelf unit, get a new one.

Many times this is caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. And, sometimes changing the frequencies on the remote and receiver reduce the occurrence.
But it sounds like this may not be the case, here. If not, the receiver in the fan is the culprit and should be replaced. No danger, just annoying.

if the battery's are good then you broke it and you have to order a new one which you can do by calling the place that you got the fan from tell them what kind of fan you have and let them know that you nead a new remote and they will be able to help you do that.

See my post below: (Sorry, we're in the same boat)
Hunter ceiling fan with remote, have 5, 4 are seriously impaired! Lights dim to half strengh after variable time 10 seconds-30 minutes. And lights or fan turns on randomly (come home & fan on full blast), and one in which the lights won't dim (just blinks when try to dim)! Hunter "kinda" admits there is serious problem with remote but doesn't have a solution. Tells people to try changing to different code due to possible interference (pain in **** to change code on ceiling base!), was totally ineffective. Then replaced receiver in ceiling base (another total pain) in 3 fans with new ones sent Hunter, still totally useless. Hunter's suggestion, don't use the remote, just use the pull chain. If I had wanted a pull chain fan, I'd have bought a pull chain fan. TOTALLY USELESS! Moral of story: If you want a remote ceiling fan (my friend found out that all their remotes are made by the same company in Taiwan), don't buy Hunter!!!!! P.S. I found a "Kinda"- fix for the lights dimming to half strenth. After turning on the lights, wait 1 second, then dim lights slightly, they will then stay on the strength that you dim them to. - P.P.S. When I changed the receiver in the one where the lights won't dim, it "solved" that problem...Now it has the same problem as the others, lights or fan turn on randomly!
