Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Diplomat APM 8703/2 Washing Machine & Tumble Dryer I have moved into a flat which has this washing machine. The powder tray is filthy. It does not seem obvious how the tray can be removed without potentially breaking it. I am looking for an online document for the user guide so that I can see how the tray can be removed without damage. Also, the online guide will allow me to see how to fix the drain sump whenever there is too much lint clogging up the area and preventing the water from draining.

When you wash very linty materials, remove lint from the tub after removing the laundry. Soap deposits may cause laundry to smell bad. To solve this problem, fill the tub with water and add 1 pound of water softener or 1 gallon of white vinegar; then run the machine through the complete wash cycle. If the deposits are really bad, wash the inside of the tub with a solution of household ammonia and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe the tub with liquid bleach. Caution: Rinse the tub thoroughly before wiping it out with bleach. Ammonia and bleach can combine to form a very dangerous gas. Finally, run the machine through a complete wash cycle before you put any more laundry in.

First you have to find the leak. First place to look is the pump and its hoses. Often there is a removable panel at the front, or a cut out section at the rear. Then check the door seal. Pull the machine out and tilt it back. Put something sturdy under the front so it doesn't drop on you.

Put washing powder in tray ,machine doing wash but leaving large residue of powder

Don't put the powder in the tray. Select you wash cycle, let the water run into the washing machine, then add the powder. The powder should dissolve before you put your clothes inside the machine. Let the washing machine fill up to almost half way and add clothes. This should stop the clothes from getting the residue powder on it.

This is a problem with the pressure system usually caused by a build up of powder residue but can be caused by other blockages. Remove machine lid and locate pipe which is about 6mm in diameter. follow pipe down which will lead to pressure bottle. Clean out and replace and should be ok. If bottle is clear check pipes for other blockages and check preesure pipe for damage.

I have one of these machines. I don't know whether this will be of any help but I had issues of the machine not activating a final spin and the clothes being left sodden once the cycle had finished. The engineer replaced the PCB module at the rear of the unit which fixed the problem. If your APM 8702 is not even starting I'd guess its a motor problem and time for an expensive repair or new washing machine.

Any ideas on cleaning where you put powder and fabric softer?

You can remove the tray by pusing in on the tab right behind the fabric softner compartment(on top). This would make cleaning very easy as you could take it and clean it right at the sink. Just make sure you don't over due it and wear out the tray.
