Question about Washing Machines

My simpson 175 dual action agitator is agitating, loading and discharging water but sometimes fails to spin.I have to reset by pressing the button behind because the power is sometimes cutting off once the spin won't happen. Can you help me with this problem, please?

The solution that was provided by one expert does not convince me. I always use the normal mode and I always rebalance the wash tub but the defect of my washing machine has never changed. I suspect there are loose parts inside like the connection of the agitator and the washer motor but I don't have any idea how to troubleshoot it. Can any expert help me with this?

This is happening because the load is unbalanced, try evening out the load all round the bowl. Then the protection switch won't be tripped... Also make sure it is sitting flat and even too.

Hi

You may have selected Drip Dry. If so, remove any drip dry items and select Normal with the Options control to restart the program. Otherwise, the wash load may be out of balance, rebalance the load and close the lid. You should check these points thoroughly and also that the machine has been installed according to the Instruction manual, before calling for Service.

I always selected the Normal option so the dip dry issue is out of the question and I always rebalance the load when that problem is happening but it still keep on repeating. I have to put my washing machine in standby for more than an hour so that it will spin again after the reset. Do you have further solution?

GE washer WNSB9080B only allows me to run "Drain and Spin", no other cycle. It wounds like there is still water inside when I move the drum around.

In top loading washing machines, the agitator is responsible for moving the clothes through the water and detergent and is driven by the output shaft of the transmission. The output shaft is normally splined and the center of the plastic agitator will have a matching spline to ensure a tight fit. Depending on the brand of washing machine, the agitator may be a single piece unit or a two piece dual action agitator. If the single piece agitator or the lower portion of a dual agitator does not oscillate back and forth during the wash cycle, or if the agitator can be turned on the transmission shaft, then the spline may be damaged and the agitator may need to be replaced. Most agitators are held in place with a bolt that threads into the top of the transmission shaft and is located below the softener dispenser or top cover. Some models use a small set screw in the barrel of the agitator just above the base to secure the agitator to the shaft, while some will use a rubber o-ring to provide a tight fit. When the retaining device is removed you should be able to lift the agitator from the shaft.

Hi, we have Simpson top loading washing machine model number Esprit 550, the drum is not rotating and the spinning plastic rod in the centre of the drum is not spinning/rotating either

that is a direct drive

is the agitator (plastic rod )loose or sloppy
if you look down the inside of the agitator
do you see a nut at the base holding the agitator tight

if the timer is working
and water can pump in and out
that is good

bad
if you cant hear the motor click in
it will need to have the inspection cover taken off
for service or part replacement

Simpson 175 shorting out

there are 2 items that come into play when the wash cycle starts 1 is a capacitor for the motor and the other is the module that works the agitator.. The module when it fails will not spin the motor so I seriously suspect that the capacitor has failed giving you a direct short to earth

Kenmore 92587400... The dual action or top portion is not spinning

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.92587400

I assume that you mean that the top agitator is not.

See the section of the Sears site for Agitator, Basket and Tub.

You'll see an item #5 "Clutch, Agitator". These are basically used to allow the top agitator to move only one way. If they are worn (which happens since they are plastic parts) the top agitator may not move either way.

There is also a part #6 "Agitator Auger" that screws into the main agitator shaft from the transmission. If this is loose, the top agitator may not move either.

Both of these are easy to check and repair.

Wont spin or agitate

Not sure what you mean? if you have normal wash action then it is agitating in the wash cycle.  Otherwise if it doesn't agitate or spin but does fill with water then your motor or motor control board is bad.
