Hi, I have a shadow which runs from top to bottom on the left side of the screen of my Infocus Dp600 projector. This happens even in blue screen mode. I also haven't been able to open the case, even though I removed the four star screws on the bottom.

Hi, I'm an electronic technician with over thirty years of experience and I need assistance to repair this problem myself.I have a shadow which runs from top to bottom on the left side of the screen of my Infocus Dp600 projector. This happens even in blue screen mode. Apparently a mirror has become misaligned. I also haven't been able to open the case, even though I removed the four star screws on the bottom. How do I get the damn thing open?

Try to replace the filter capacitor from the power supply that is a riffled dc supply and it causes a humming bars on the screen.

Does the shadow look too big or is it just like a thin line on the left? Sounds like a focus related problem to me.

The line is about 2inches wide while I have the projector in full screen mode, which is about 5 feet diagonal. It's there regardless of whether an image is being projected. The image is still sharp and visible in the shadow, just darker than the rest of the screen. Also need to know the secret to opening the case on this thing. I removed the four star screws from the bottom, but cannot separate the case.

Ok. Its not a complicated fix. There are two possibilities. Either the lens filter is dirty or you have a problem with the DMD device(DMD board). As for opening it up. You are probably missing some hidden screws. Look for screws covered by labels or something of that sort. If you still have a problem after removing the hidden screws then please upload some high-res pics and get me the direct links so that I can have a look.

If you wish to do this yourself. You MUST get a service manual, before attempting any repair such as this otherwise you will simply end up in a "Pickle" as they say.
See, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Infocus in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace.

this discoloration is the begining of the lcd panel being thermal damaged. this happens when the projector is being used for a long period of time and then being shut off using the switch on the rear of the projector instead of the on/off on top or the remote. to fix it it will have to be replaced. very expensive major repair.

InFocus LP600 - A vertical shadow on the Left-side covering about 20% of screen.

The light tunnel inside the "engine" is either out of alignment or the glue holding the tunnel together is coming unglued and 1 of the 4 sides has fallen in. There are 2 screws to adjust this if the tunnel is still intact. One or both screws can be accessed by opening the lamp door and then you have to remove a thin sticky cover. You will see 2 small screws that will have to be adjusted with a small torx (3) or allen. You will have to have the safety switch pushed in with something and adjust while the projector is on, using the most easily accessible screw, turn it towards the direction of the "banding". It should decrease. If not, turn the screw the other way. The screw that is not so easy to get to is for adjusting the banding the can appear across the top or bottom of the screen. If the banding gets worse or even starts to show diagonally across the screen, it is a good bet that the tunnel has collasped.

the light tunnel (like a square tube of mirrors) is collapsing. it needs to be replaced, but it's a bit involved, so and infocus service center would be your best bet. if you wish to try it yourself, let me know.

Hi there

I take it the Projector is ceiling mounted ?

If this is the case check that it is installed with the lens of the Projector in the facing straight to the middle of the screen or try adjusting the bracket's swivel head to move it a bit - should do the trick !

X1a brownish bar on right side of screen

Hi mate.

This is caused by a light tunnel fault, where infocus designed a stupid light tunnel using 4 pieces of mirror and some very tacky glue. What happens is that, over time the glue comes off causeing one of the pieces of mirro or more to collapse giving you the shaded effect on one part of the screen. I myself have had this problem and am now in need of a new light tunnel as mine literally broke, but here is a thread that tells you very efficiently (picture guided) on how to fix this problem. BUT be aware that you need a very good glue and something that will withstand the heat, thats where I went worng lol.

Hope this help, if you need any help just let me know as I have dismantled mine right to the core and put it back together faultlessly many times now so can practically do it with my eyes closed lol.

Cheers
