If you have problems pairing your Garmin device, try the following:

  • Verify that your USB ANT stick is connected properly.
  • If using a Forerunner 405, ensure the unit is out of power save mode. See owner's manual for more information
  • Verify that pairing is enabled on your Garmin device:
  • Forerunner 50: To enable pairing, follow these steps:
    1. Press MODE to the Train page.
    2. Press and hold Start/Stop for Settings.
    3. Press the View button until the display reads "Tx Pair".
    4. Verify "TX Pair" is ON.
Forerunner 405: To enable pairing, follow these steps:
    1. Press and hold Menu.
    2. Scroll and select Settings.
    3. Scroll and select ANT + Sport.
    4. Scroll and select Computer.
    5. Verify Pairing is On.
  • Right-click the Garmin ANT Agent icon Hi, im unable to pair - ic-ant.jpg in the Windows system tray, select Pair with New Devices, and verify that pairing is enabled.
A couple of points.

When you get the pairing message on the computer you quickly want to select Yes on both the computer and on the watch (Start/Stop button when the box comes up)

Also I recommend at least 3 feet of distance between the Ant Stick and the watch. The allows for a good transmission between the two.

also try replacing the batteries...... because most of this problems are caused due to this.

Hi apologies if this is really late, but just found this thread and am having the problems above.
New version of Windows 7 (64-bit) - home premium,
    Garmin 405 watch

Ant software does find the watch
I press yes to pair on the PC
then the watch says - do I want to pair
I press "yes" - start / stop button

Then after a few seconds I get a message on the PC:
Unable to pair with the device "number". Confirm that pairing is enabled. See owners manual for more information.

Pairing is enabled, along with teh other settings in the Ant screen on the watch.

Watch is about 1 foot away from the transmitter.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I got n97mini, it keep ask me to pair with a bluetooth gps device

Your Garmin has Bluetooth handsfree activated, it's nothing to do with navigation. All that's happening is that it's sensing that your n97 has Bluetooth turned on and so your Garmin is asking whether you wish to pair the devices.

Paired or not, your Garmin still uses it's own internal GPS navigation and does not utilise the navigation built into your n97.

If you already use your own preferred handsfree device then just go into the Garmin's menu to turn off Bluetooth. If you don't already have handsfree then I strongly suggest that you pair your phone to the Garmin and use the facility to remain safe and legal.

If you wish to disable Bluetooth on the Garmin then on most models, starting from the homepage, you press "tools", "settings", "Bluetooth" and then click on "Bluutooth enabled" and toggle it to "disabled".

I hope that this answers your question, you can let me know by rating my answer. If not then please add a comment instead to more clearly explain what your problem is and I will try again.

How can i set the em227pk bluetooth up for pairing? plz help.

In order to pair a BlackBerry smartphone with a Bluetooth enabled device (e.g. a Bluetooth enabled headset), the Bluetooth enabled device must be in pairing mode. Most Bluetooth enabled devices are not set to pairing mode by default. Refer to your Bluetooth enabled device manual for instructions on how to set the Bluetooth enabled device to pairing mode.
To pair the BlackBerry smartphone with a Bluetooth enabled device, complete the following steps:
1) On the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Bluetooth. If you cannot find the Bluetooth option,
2) Open the menu and select Add Device. The Select Device list appears and lists Bluetooth enabled devices that are in range and available to be paired.
Note: Only BlackBerry smartphones enabled with Bluetooth technology that are in range and in pairing mode will appear in the available Select Device list.
3) Select the Bluetooth enabled device with which you are pairing. The Enter passkey dialog appears.
4) Type the passkey to authenticate the Bluetooth enabled device. Most Bluetooth enabled devices contain a hard coded passkey. See your Bluetooth enabled device manual for the passkey.
Note: 0000 is the universal passkey for pairing any Bluetooth enabled device with a BlackBerry smartphone.
Note: Once a Bluetooth enabled device is paired, it appears in the Paired Devices list. The Bluetooth enabled device will no longer appear in the Select Device list.
Bluetooth devices are manufacturer specific. Please refer user manual for instructions on how to pair with other devices.

Blackberry 8320 address book unable to import to Garmin Nuvi 265TW AT the start of pairing it did import it but once blacberry out of connection  from garmin or disabled, when enabled pairing address is...

The address books may not be compatible with each other regardless of pairing or not. Best bet is to check on in the support section. If it isn't they you can use the dial up on the GPS as well as any other enhanced features that require bluetooth services.

Can`t pair Garmin Forerunner 50 with footpod

I've been having the same problem. I couldn't pair my footpod, but my heart rate monitor was working. I've only had the 50 for about eight weeks.

I reset the watch, holding view mode and Start/Stop at the same time.
This didn't do any good.

I swapped the battery in the HRM with that in the foot pod. The foot pod synched the HRM didn't.

Solution duff battery. I'd change yours it will probably do the trick.

Hope it helps

MY Garmin 405 wont download data. It make the connection and gets to the tarnsfer point then "transfer failed. I've one route downloaded last week but none since. I tried: resetting both...

I got the same issue and it was because of a software update to ANT+ agent being not compatible with the 405.
here is what I got from Garmin Support.
This solved my problem:
There is currently an issue that has been identified with the latest
version of the ANT agent where it will not transfer data to the computer
from a 405cx. To resolve this please follow these steps
1. If the device has paired it will need to be removed. Right Click on
the ANT agent, select Device Settings then click Remove Device.
2. Right Click the ANT agent and select Exit to close the ANT agent
3. Go to the Control Panel, select Add / Remove Programs and uninstall
the ANT agent.
4. Reboot the computer
5. Download the previous version of the ANT agent from
Run this file once it has downloaded
7. Turn on the pairing on the watch ? to do this go to Menu > Settings
> ANT+ > Computer > Pairing (on).
8. Enable pairing on the computer - right click on the ANT agent icon
and select Pair With New Devices > Enabled (this may already be enabled)
The Forerunner and computer should now pair, please be aware that it can
take several minutes for the computer to find the watch.
