Hi, the usual and recommended setting is 1.5 times your physical memory (RAM) . the link below goes into it in way more detail , when i build systems i try to have a minimum of 1Gb for XP systems and at least 2 Gb for Vista and Win 7 .

The best setting is actually to let Windows control how much you have instead of setting it at a specific size. That way it can grow if needed or when larger hard Drives are installed.

Im trying ti install heroes 4 and it say I need 128mb of memory... i have 2 gb of memory and says it fails to meet requirements...should i look for a patch? Im using windows 7. thx for ur help

Hello,

Your using Windows OS 7, which is fairly new. This is great for programs but not for games. Heroes 4 is a older game, so there are some compadablility problems.

As for your memory and HD space you should be fine since the requirements are low.

Solutions: Look for programs which allows you to run virtual OS of pervious generations of windows (such as windows xp). This should solve your problem. Otherwise if you have 2 HDD on your laptop/computer you can make one drive into a older OS. Then run the game from that HD.

Good luck, and rate my response.

Im having low memory problems im gettin a virtual memory error and it shows that i have 224.mb is there anythin i can do to adjust this or wh do you think?? thank you for any advice you my have jrwh

First, a little explanation: Memory and virtual memory are not the same. Physical memory is what you see when you have 224 MM. Virtual memory is actually a file on your hard drive. You have to reset it to get rid of this message. Here's how:
Right click on "my computer" and then left click on "properties."
Now left click on "advanced." In that window, left click on "settings."When that window opens up, left click on "advanced." At the bottom of this window you will see the virtual memory properties. You will need to click on "change." About halfway down you need to click on "system managed size" and click on "set" just to the right. Then click on "OK"
The paging file will be changed when you restart and you should be good to go.

Windows Virtual Memory Minimum is Low

fairly normal occurrence but you should have a look at your performance settings
go to control panel
double click system icon
click the advanced tab at the top
by performance click settings
in pop up window click advanced tab
at the bottom you'll see virtual memory
click change
most common option now is to set the radio button to system managed size
you should then ok each window.....

Virtual memory

You have to set your system to control the virtual memory....

In the Virtual Memory settings you have 3 options:

1- personalized size

2- size managed by the system

3- without pagefile

Select and set the second Option....apply and click in Ok....
Good Luck!

I have an IBM thinkpad T20 running windows 2000. The computer is on and booted up but the monitor is not lighting up. It is running on 256mb ram and I was getting a lot of virtual memory is low warnings...

To determine if the laptop has a problem with the inverter of low virtual memory issues, plug an external monitor in to the laptop and you can change the virtual memory by following these instructions, right click on my computer, select properties, then select advanced, click on virtual memory and change the settings to system detemined, save settings and reboot the laptop without the external monitor to see if it is virtual memory or inverter.
Please keep me informed

Virtual memory needing more space

hello
yes all info you can share is good. do you have several partitions on the disk? in that case you can move the swap file to a other partition or hard drive. how big are you c: ? you have to little space at your harddrive as you said. you can change your virtual memory here right click my computer >properties>advanced tab-> settings on Performance> advanced and click change. change to a other partition or set the size smaller on C. But be careful! the size of the page file should be atleast equal to you amount of ram.
