Question about RC Toys

2 Answers

Hi, my name is Tony the RC novice. I recently had a hard crash with my Wild Hawk plane on an overhead power line wire. The hatch fell off, then the battery pulled apart from its wiring harness. I put it back together and now the motor will not restart. Any suggestions?

If the motor on my rc plane shorted out, will just replacing the motor work, or will i need another of those voltage controllers too?

It may have fried the motor.Did you see sparks? Also what voltage is the battery?I would inspect the wire harness for separation or frayed wiring first or loose connections before you start buying things to attempt repair. You should be able to take it apart right to check it out right?Let me know if you find anything and I will figure out a way to test the battery and motor.Good luck! Hi! I finally tried the motor and battery. The motor is fine; full power when I put the leads from the battery pack on it. I think it is just 8.6 volts, since there are like 7 Nickel metal hydride cells in the pack. when I touch the leads from the battery pack to the controller or whatever it is called- there is just a twitch on one of the rods, either the elevator or the rudder. I don't know which. It is only 3 channel, no airelons or whatever they are called. I don't know much else.

    Got any ideas? thanks!

The elevator is the flat surface on the tail and the rudder is the up and down surface on the tail. The elevator controls height movement,up and down, the rudder controls direction, left and right.3 channels,Speed, height and turn most likely.Since you have speed, you need to determine which is twitching. The elevator should have a fairly wide range of movement, probably the rudder too so it can turn fairly quick and not just do a big loop.Whichever surface is doing the twitch, probably needs a new actuator.Should be a fairly easy fix...possibly$$$ though.I would like to know which surface is twitching and perhaps a little better description such as moves just millimeters or what the twitch is such as you move only one direction and it just barely moves or whatever if you know what I mean. Also, obviously make sure the other surface works fairly normal so you only have to make 1 order. When you do replace, either write down which wire goes where or some method to ensure proper wiring.Does the battery list it's rated voltage too?7 cells 8.6V sounds about right but is a rating I have never heard of.Let me know how you make out and watch out for power lines!lol.Flying is tough if you never have done it or studied aerodynamics of flight before.Good luck! Greg P.S.Be aware of airports nearby. There are FAA restrictions about proximity of RC planes to the airport in case you did not know.Just mentioning it because many people do not know and I do not know if that is in your directions.

If you hit a power line, you probably shorted out the motor from the high voltage

I recently purchased a Fast Lane Hawk 4 rc helicopter. After a few small "crashes", it shakes and doesnt fly well. Does the top rotor need replacing, and if so, can I get the parts for it?

I have the same one, i have searched long and hard for parts for this without much sucsess, allthough i have found this on ebay, the blades and rotor look very simular

Its slightly diffrent but i think the blades should fit the hawk 4. In the mean time i shall keep looking.

I need to know how to take a chain off of a Tony Hawk Homer Bicycle. Please let me know. Thank you. Nicholas

You need a chain breaker tool, it presses a link pin out but DO not press the pin totally out of both links, it would be very hard to reinstall.

Hawk talon v3 - bottom rotor won't spin

I just got one for Christmas too. Had it flying for 10 seconds, and lost control. I have to work on my piloting skills! After that initial crash, I prepared for another take off and realized my lower rotor was not spinning. It turns out that the tiny vertical gear that powers the lower rotor gear fell off its axle. The axle is connected to the sensor that receives the signal from the throttle. Luckily, I found that tiny gear sitting inside the head of my helicopter. After spending 2 hours trying to place it back on the axle, I got it running again. The rotor was spinning again, but it wouldn't take off. I did some troubleshooting, adjusting the trim multiple times. Then the gear fell off again. I found it and noticed that I had damaged the plastic teeth from using my tweezers to reinstall it. You can go to to buy a complete gear system for $6.95. You won't need to replace all of the gears, just the one that fell off, and it's always a good idea to have spare parts just in case.

Happy flying

Tony Hawk Shred board will not calibrate. Help!

I had the same problem. I turned the WII so the dongle/sensor that comes with the game is facing the skateboard with a clear line of sight between the dongle/sensor and skateboard. Now it's able to calibrate. Hope this works for you.
