Question about Philips (JR4DVDRWK/00) DVD+RW Burner

1 Answer

I purchased a philips dvd burner. I originally had it hooked up through my comcast cable box. Unfortunately I unhooked everything but I am trying to remember how to hook up the burner so I can burn dvd's.

I have comcast cable serice. Do I have to hook up my dvd/vhs recorder to comcast box or just to my tv?

Your tv. You will use your tv "source" to select which input to watch from. Everything goes to the TV. I have a surround sound amp that I run the sound FROM the TV that way if I want it loud I turn that on. It is the only exception.

I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Can't hook up Comcast cable box into tv. It is an HD comcast cable box and I am trying to hook it up to my childrens princess tv/dvd combo. I can't figure it out. Please help.

I assume this TV has no Audio In and Video In, from your Cable box there's an antenna out or cable out, connect that to your TV's antenna in, and make sure that your TV is tuned in to channel 3 or 4, try those two channels. You can only change channel thru your box, your TV channel is alway's on channel 3 or 4.

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

I have a Philips DVDR 3575H. using Comcast's

Try this set up-

Use an RCA audio/video cable for this set up (Yellow/Red/White).

Connect from the Video out (Yellow) connection on the back of the cable box to the Video in on the back of the DVR.

Connect the audio (Red/White) cables from audio out connection on the back of the cable box to the "Audio in" on the back of the DVR.

This should still get you a decent picture but not a true HD picture for your recordings.

When you set the timer to record set it to record either E1 or E2 depending on which input you connected the cable box to and ensure that the cable box is tuned to the channel you wish to record.

*** NOTE: If you keep the HDMI cable connected as you have for the cable box and watch normal TV through the HDMI input on the TV you will get HD programming for your general viewing but still have the option to record with the DVR at a lower quality. ***

Good Luck and please rate this solution....

My insignia lcd37 is hooking the comcast modem and works at times. Other times the sound is on, but the picture is blank. Is it worth fixing or just start over.

Okay you TV is hooked to a comcast modem? or do you mean My tv is hooked to the comcast converter box? A no picture but sound you want to first check you cables also try hooking up a dvd to the tv and see if that picture comes on if not and you got no pic and sound this would mean the backlight on this tv is dead or you got a bad inverter not converter, inverter inside the tv. Meaning it needs the repairshop but try and hook up a dvd to it and see if you got picture if so you cable box might be the issue call comcast!

Thanks and please leave valuable feeback and ratings today!

Recording with comcast hd box and toshiba VCR/DVD

1st, see if you can get another cable box that offers component as well as RCA outputs on the back. Does your cable box have S Video out and does your toshiba have S Video in? If so, hook up the S Video from cable box to Toshiba. Then hook up R&W audio from Cable Box out to Toshiba In. Set the channel on the cable box to what you want to record. Set Toshiba to record channel 3 or 4, whichever your Toshiba is set on. The cable box controls the channel you are recording. You cannot set the recorder to the channel you want to record. It must be either 3 or 4. Try it. If everything else fails, you have to go cable from wall to cable in on cable box, cable out on cable box to cable in on Toshiba then either cable or RCA out on Toshiba to TV.
