TOshiba Laptop u200 bios paswword protected

HI

My toshiba laptop u200 has a bios password protected. Some suggest to run some pgms but it cant start unless you have the right password. I have removed the Battery for 30min, but it still asking fro the password. and it gives me only 1 chance to type it, after is turns off. I have changed even for a new hard disk, but the laptop cant boot unless you give the good passwd.
Is there any hard solution for this specific model.
thx for helping

Here i extracted some info for you on this site BIOS.

If the Ask Password option is enabled then as soon as the PC is switched on a Dialog box welcomes you and asks you for the password. You cannot override this and there is no way of disabling this because to enter the BIOS you need to know the BIOS password. So what do you do? Disable it. Now to Disable the BIOS password you need to enter the BIOS. But as soon as you enter the BIOS the BIOS asks for a password. Now the most common method of overriding this password prompt is by trying out the default BIOS passwords. Some common passwords are: Lkwpeter j262 AWARD_SW AWARD_PW Biostar Many BIOS also have their default password that can be tried. "j262" opens most versions of Award BIOS it works about 80% of the time. "AWARD_SW" and "AWARD_PW" work on some computers as well, but much less often. In some BIOS shift+s y x z also works. The best way to find out the default passwords of various BIOS is to search at http://astalavista.box.sk which is the best search engine for security related matter Well if the default passwords did not work them get ready for some serious Hacking stuff. Now as the default BIOS password did not work we will try to reset the BIOS to its default settings so that it asks for no password at all. So to do following: First you have to open the computer and then look for a round lithium battery, it probably looks like a silver coin. So remove the battery and after 30 seconds or so put it back. Some computers may also require you to reset the jumper, so look for a 3-pin jumper and reset it. For example, on most machines you will find a three-pin device with pins one and two jumpered. If you move the jumper to pins two and three and leave it there for over five seconds, it will reset the CMOS. When you boot the machine some BIOS may give an error saying that the BIOS was reset or tampered with, but that is not such a big problem...

    Resetting a Toshiba BIOS Password
KeyDisk will reset the BIOS password on Toshiba laptops.

Older Toshiba laptops can be convinced to boot without their power-on BIOS password by attaching a dongle to the parallel port which crosses a number of the pins. The pin out is:

    Pins

    1-5-10

    2-11

    3-17

    4-12

    6-16

    7-13

    8-14

    9-15
Some Toshiba's can be convinced to bypass the startup BIOS password if you hold down the key while booting the system.

  • Ekse Apr 28, 2008

also try typeing "Toshiba" as the password without the quotes.

  • Ekse Apr 28, 2008

Also the bios chip can be shortcircuited to cause a cmos error -> which then forces the system to load the default bios from the rom.

Also one could hotflash the bios on another motherboard.

Oh I could fix this if I had the laptop on my hands.

How to remove bios password of L505 S5984 model laptop

The basic input/output system (BIOS) is essential computer motherboard firmware. Using the BIOS menu, you can configure many system settings--for instance, the computer boot sequence--and also configure hardware, such as optical (CD/DVD) drives or a monitor. An optional password protects BIOS from unauthorized access. However, you may need to remove the BIOS password to facilitate the configuration of your system. The Toshiba laptop model Satellite Pro T1000 allows you to change BIOS settings and remove the password with a special Windows hardware setup program. 1. Click "All Programs" from the Windows start menu.
    2. Open the folder "TOSHIBA" and click on "Utilities."
    3. Click on "HWSetup" to start the Toshiba Hardware BIOS utility.
    4. Click on the tab "Password" in the HWSetup window.
    5. Select the radio button "Not Registered" in the field "Password."
    6. Click the "Apply" button to to remove the password and save that change in the laptop BIOS.
Please rate me if you find it very helpful.

Thank you very much. Good day ahead on you.

Hi there, i have a toshiba satellite L3500 notebook and cant past the bios password. is there a default password for me to enter so i can get into my laptop?

    Hi,

There is no easy way of resetting the BIOS password other than opening the laptop up and resetting it.

Most Toshiba laptops and some desktop systems will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot, failing this you are looking at handing it into a laptop repair shop for them to openit up and reset.

    Hope this helps
