Question about HP Compaq Presario 2200 Notebook
The Compaq Presario line is one of the longest-running series of computers, originating in 1993 and remaining in production even after the purchase of Compaq by HP. Because of this, many Compaq Presario desktops have required that some of their parts be upgraded or replaced because of the wear that they have received over years of standard use. One of the more commonly replaced Presario desktop components is the hard drives, especially given how much hard drive storage capacity has increased since the Compaq Presario line was introduced. Replacing a hard drive in a Compaq Presario desktop isn't difficult, and can usually be done in a matter of minutes even for users who aren't familiar with computer upgrades.

If your trying to use the operating system from Dell 2200 in your Compaq... your going to have driver issues and Windows liscense issues... it may not let you boot into the operating system seeing that how Microsoft builds the copy protection by building in the hardware where Windows was first activated into the encrption for the copy protection. That being said... If you want to erase the drive and install it as a new drive into the compaq and then put a Operating System on it from there... you can do that.
The Bottom line is yes you can use your Dell Hard Drive in your Compaq as long as you Erase it and Reinstall a Operating System on it once you get it in the Compaq.
Hope this Helps!

If you want to remove hard drive of your unit. Be sure that do you have little idea to do it with your own. You need to remove first the screw of your unit to open the back cover. Once you are already open the cover, you can remove the hard drive slowly.

Yes you can according to the maintenance manual click on this link to download the manual (PDF file) :-
You can also re-use the old hard drive by inserting it into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive.
