Can not get internet without yellow cable being in

The Yellow cable indicates a priority link to the router number 1 position { or X1} and MUST have connection to your primary computer to function. without this connection the router will not function, and all you will have is a conversation piece on your desk. Hope this helps !

I need to know where to plug the big yellow phone cord. One end goes in the top plug in the back of the router and where does the other end go? In the back of the motorola motem? What else is supposed to...

Hello,
The cord you are referring to is a CAT5 network cable. The color isn't important, but they usually ship the routers with color cords to help with the installation. Typically you would have the following setup:

1. A CAT5 network cable that runs from your broadband modem TO your Belkin Wireless Router in the "Internet" port. (Port "a" in the diagram)
2. Now plug another CAT5 network cable in to the back of your computer's Network Interface Cord TO one of the remaining ports on your Belkin Wireless (Any of the port "b" in the diagram).

However, you will need to run the configuration software that come with your router.

Please let me know if I can further assist you.

I followed the CD instructions for connecting the router to my modem, and I am unable to get a connection. I took the thick yellow ethernet cable and connected one end to my PC, and the other end to the...

Contact your Internet Service Provider (DSL or cable) and let them know you're hooking up a router to your modem. They may have disabled the router feature in the modem and will need to identify it on their system for it to work correctly - they should walk you through the process (it's free). The thinner yellow cable you mentioned - is it a USB cable? Sorry, I've never heard of such a cable unless it's USB, Ethernet (the thick cable), or a phone line cable - the cables used for a network.

From the walljack to the modem, use the gray cable.

Disconnect the yellow cable from the modem to the PC.

Use the black cable from the router to the modem (where the PC was originally connected).

Use the 2 yellow cables for the PC and the laptop going to any of the 4 ports of the router.

Hope this helps!

Yellow Ethernet Cable

Hello,
Ethernet cables can come in all colours (very unhelpfully). The cable you need has RJ45 connectors at either end, which are clear.

It goes by many names: you are looking for Cat5e or Cat6, ‘straight’ or ‘patch’ cable, which is used to connect, say, a computer to a router. Do NOT use ‘crossover’ cable.

Netgear has some info here (a little out of date but OK:)

The light of internet is orange, not yellow.

The router should have reset button on the back. This will reset it to factory defaults. If you have an ISP that gives you internet without a username and password like rogers then you should be good to go. If your ISP is like Bell then you will need to get into the website of the router and configure it.

My net gear router is not connecting

Hello!

If the yellow cable is already connected from the modem to the router, the blue cable (must be an ethernet cat 5 cable) must be connected from one of the regular LAN port of the router to the back of your computer. Ethernet card should be installed on your pc so you can connect the blue cable.
