Question about Samsung TX-P2670WH 26" TV

1 Answer

It turns off by itself. Now it won't turn on. It's a TX-P2670WH. Looked inside for bulging capacitors; nothing.

Just look for bad capcitors will not cut it,

1. Check if the fuse has blown

if the fuse has blown you can replace it but if it blows again then you got power supply issues and you going to need ot take it down to a local tv repair shop.

just checking for blown caps is not goign to solve your issue or make new issues there are reasons why a cap would blow and you must follow up on those reasons like a bad relay, bad transformer ect ect.

let us know

    The fuse is fine. The problem was gradually getting worse, so last week I took the back off and blew the dust out with a compressor; it worked great for a while. Now it turns itself on and off, making a high pitched noise with flickering lights; no picture.

    I did some investigation on your issue and I am saddened to bring you this sad news because there are no parts for this set anymore you might reconsider even trying repair.

    The power supply is your major issue there. It has been found in these sets that there has been a crack that has fromed in these PCB's on these power supplies you cannot really see the cracks but its caused from heat /dust and the like.

    I really wish I can give you a little better heads up but finding a power supply for this little guy is not going to be easy.

    let me know :(

    Okay, thanks for your help. I bought this TV six years ago, and now I can buy a larger one for half the price I paid back then. Less than the cost of repairing this one, I can see.

There is a defective electrolytic capacitor (470MF/16V) on the main board that went bad, it will causes intermittent, slow, or not power up, the location number of the cap is not marked on the board, please see the attached photo to locate it.

It most probably is the power supply board. There is a repair service which addresses any problem with the power supply board, not just bad capacitors:

My philips lcd tv does not turn on, it just blinks for 5 times and then nothing... what could be the problem?

good day if the tv won't power up then just only a blinking light from the indicator, you will need to check the power supply first. you can apply the visual checking usually bulging capacitors at the secondary filter capacitor of the power supply they are leak which need replacement. sample of bulged capacitor . you can find replacement at now after you replaced defective capacitors turn on the tv unit then check all the out put voltage if normal the 5v stand by. 5v switched, 12v, and 24v for inverter ballast now if those voltage are stable i'm pretty sure your tv unit will working fine.

Interesting problem

It sounds as if you have a cold solder joint. I would check for bad solder joint(s) around the flyback transformer as this can be a common problem in some televisons.
