Question about GE Monogram ZDI15C Automatic Icemaker

1 Answer

The ice maker on my GE Monogram ZISB42EMD stopped working suddenly. The motor on it still runs and I don't see any obvious problem with the water supply, but there must be somewhere! Thanks

Hello,
You can solve this yourself by taking the following steps.. Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension. 2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only. 3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost. 4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad. 5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!! 6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running thru them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator. 7. If the heaters look ok the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install. Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.

The green light flashing is a fault code, usually for a no, or long fill situation, GE has nixed this electronic ice maker and returned to one that looks similar but is non electronic, while your ice maker is probably at fault you may actually have a separate issue causing the ice maker to display a fault code, such as a spent water filter, or low water pressure, or even a bad water valve on the fridge it's self. Hello. My G.E. Monogram water dispenser trickles water after we get water from it. We have to keep a cup there to catch the excess water. How do I fix it so it stops as soon as we get water out of t

Try replacing the Water Valve. It is located in the back of the refrigerater, left side. You should see three tubes connected to it. This part fixes the following symptoms - Leaking water, Water dispenser will not dispense water, Ice maker will not make ice and Ice maker won't dispense ice. GE part#WR57X10032. The Water Valve is extreemly easy to replace. Only takes about 15 mins total time to remove, install and confirm. I just replaced mines..my problem went from leaking water to no water was dispensing at all. I have the GE Profile, it uses the same water valve as your GE Monogram. There is a You Tub video that also shows how to replace. Good Luck!

Ge monogram water line

the water dispenser does not dispense water, although i can hear the motor running, but water is reaching the ice maker.
any tips?

You may have a clogged water line or filter something blocking the flow of the water or you may have to replace the filter or a water line – it may have a defective sending unit / pump and it would be wise to check it out with a regular service tech and to also check your owner’s manual for troubleshooting.
