You would have to go through the flow cahrt in the service manual that will pinpoint which board has the issues. You can get the service manual from www.servicemanuals.vstore.ca

I think you have a colorwheel with bearings that are noisy and theres no telling how long it will last . Could be days or years, just noisy. But a colorwheel will not cause a picture to freeze. Sounds like two problems- a questionable colorwheel and a failing dmd board .
Most likely your problem is on the DMD Assy Board P/N BP96-00249A . More presicely there is a few bad electronic components on that board that are bad. That board can be repaired by replacing the bad components (and the other few compoonents that are probly going bad and will soon cause your tv to lockup and lose remote and button functions when it fails so you will need to unplug it to get it on again).
Or the DMD board can be replaced .But it is not a cheap board.
For removal and Installation of the DMD board I would reccomend a tv service person because it is in the heart of the television and there are some adjustements to be made when the new board is installed.
To get the new board you could probably find it by just gooogling the part number.
Component level repair would require some experience in desoldering and soldering SMT,SMD , and or surface mount components. The actual components are about $15.00 total so just repairing your board should cost about $125.00 by a qualified servicer (if you were to remove and install it yourself). This DMD board is used in many models and can has few common problems.

SYMPTOMS:
-Intermittant picture freezing with a negative looking B/W frozen picture.
-Intermittant loss of pic with/without shutdown
-abnormal color wheel noise if attempted to start right after shutdown.
-lockup of tv control functions . Remote and front keypad do nothing , TV must be unplugged to reset .
-horizantal tearing, distortion , flippnig , solarization , red picture, leading to blank screen and lockup.(tv menu would be affected by all picture defects if caused by DMD board).
Hope this helps someone..

Television turns on but it has voice but no picture. We have already installed a new lamp, but that didn't fix the problem. The lights on front of the television blink five times then it shuts off and...

You have either a bad ballast or a bad DMD Board. First remove the lamp from the televison and power the television on. When you turn it on you should hear a buzz and if you look in the back of the televison you should see a spark (this will not damage your television). If you dont hear the buzz or see a spark than your ballast which powers on the lamp is bad. If you hear the buzz and see a spark than your ballast is good and the DMD board needs replacing which will cost around $500-$850 depending on where you take it to be fixed. If you do the repair yourself then you must also know how to access the service menu and also know which engine you have and also be ready to tackle adjusting the picture which will require two people or your picture will not be square or centered. DMD boards usually run around $300.00

You have a bad connection between the main board and dmd, or between the dmd chip and dmd board.

You have dirty contacts between the dmd board and the dmd chip, or the dmd chip is bad. If the dmd is bad you'll need a new light engine.

Can someone please tell me the DMD part # for a HLR6167WX/XAP?

When you replace the color wheel on certain models you must remove a jumper plug on the DMD board. There is a service bulletin that is usually included with factory replacement color wheels. If the color wheel has a whine to it that means it is probably used and came out of someone else's set. Anyhow the plug can be accessed as I recall without removing the shield of the DMD board. I know this because my first one of those gave me grief, too. Samsung changed wheels on different versions of the same model tv so it gets confusing. You should be ok though after adding/removing the two pin plastic jumper from the DMD board. The only other thing I saw cause a green picture eas the plug that goes from the DMD to the digital board can develop bad connections and can be replaced with a regular DVI type cable. Hope this helps, Russmann.

Samsung DLP HL-S4266W White dot problem

Its the DLP IC chip itself that is bad. The DMD board is where the chip resides but if you order a board, it will come without the chip. Its not cheap and the replacement is tricky because the DMD board must be removed and then an alignment of picture centering will be necessary.

Toshiba 52hm84 DMD board

The DMD panel is made up of individual " Digital Micromirror devices" (DMD) one mirror per pixel. They are HD2+ DMDs which are the 4th generation DMDs. I dont have a part number but what is your set doing for symptoms? DMDs are basically small mirrors mounted on hinges that react to the digital inpulses so the signal can aim the mirrors percisely. Toshiba should have a replacement panel available. Let me know if I can assist you further.
