Question about Insignia 50 in. Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
This an be the power supply, or there is a component on one of the processor boards that is starting to fail.
The only way the tech can service this is to have the set opened, and wait for the fault to occure. When the set is doing the fault, he has to check the power supply distribution outputs, and at the same time use a digital scope to follow the video path through the various stages. This is a long an complicated process to find the exact fault.
Once the tech knows which board is giving the fault, he can then change the complete circuit board to fix the set.
I think what is happening is that when the set is coming in, they are not spending the adequate amount of time on it to find the fault. This type of problem is very time consuming to find.
What you can do is make a video of the fault, write the video to a DVD, and bring the set back with the DVD to show them the fault.
If you have a friend with an HDTV you can bring your DVD player to his place and try it for a while on his TV set. This would verify the player for sure.
I doubt you have an AC power problem. You can easily prove the AC power by putting a lamp on it.
When I have had this type of fault, I ended up finding the defective board in the TV and replacing it. One time, it was the customer's DVD player that was causing a fault.
Next time you buy a TV set I would suggest to you to pay a little more and stick with a major brand of TV set. They have better factory support, and are of better quality.
